1982 Mitsubishi Sigma GL 2.0 L petrol

Summary:

Reliable first car, fun..

Faults:

Radiator leaks, needs re-filling every time the car is driven.

Alternator is stuffed, doesn't produce enough power to run everything on a dark rainy night.

It leaks... especially the back window and windscreen.

Blows lost of smoke, when it stops it needs oil.. roughly weekly...

Stopped for an unknown reason, RAC man fixed it no prob.

General Comments:

It's been a good first car for sure. It's done well for three years, but it's starting to give up now.

It goes pretty hard when you want it too, I'm sure it's surprised a few people.

Fun to drive on gravel or in the wet..

Good sound system, not standard.

1982 Mitsubishi Sigma SE 2.6

Summary:

Sweet first car!

Faults:

Dead battery, the brake lights got stuck on... dunno how.

General Comments:

It's pretty sweet for a $1400 car, and it's RWD which is good, pity it's an auto... you can do pretty good burnouts in it, especially on dust...

It's a bit thirsty, I have used 20 litres in 100km, but that's driving hard and ALOT of idling... so usually it'll be better than that...

The interior is good, seats are comfy and it's got a 4 speaker stereo which is alright...

I reckon they are a bargain!!

How do you tune it? Mine's got worse :( Last time I filled her up (60 litres) I had gone only 220k's when the petrol light came on.

This is shocking!!!

Now more than 20 litres per 100kms!!!

Please please please tell me how to tune it!!!

My 2 litre 5 speed manual GLX is the best car I've ever driven. It's been in the family for over 12 years now, and it starts first time every time. I get about 80km off 10 litres of fuel. I rate them highly.

Get a oxygen sensor for the exhaust pipe and a reader thing from Jaycar Electronics.

I own a GH 2.6 sigma auto. Its is a real box, but I tell you what it can do great brake burnouts. Do they all do them or is just mine? It is such a strong car, it has been Thrased and taked 4WDing, but is still going no worrys. "What a Beast".
