Summary:

An excellent car to own and drive

Faults:

Not too many complaints about it, a few things though:

Fuel Pump needed replacing at about 60,000kms.

Head & other gaskets needed replacing.

A few rust spots, but after all it is over 20 years old.

General Comments:

As the only car I have ever owned, bought for me by my father, I find is is a very good vehicle.

Given that it has only done 75,000kms, and only 50,000 when I bought it, the engine is is top condition.

The interior is very nice, polished wood grain finish with no wear or damage spots.

It is very comfortable to drive and the suspension is nicely balanced, up there with most newer Holden's.

The power steering, powers windows, power mirrors etc, have been in top condition.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I get about 320km from my 206c thrashing it, great to do long trips, but has a great turning circle and is easy to park too, my daily drive. mine was assembeled in Thames nz.

You may find the fuel pump (buried up in the right hand front guard doesn't not need replacing, just a filter clear out or change). It clogs easily. The transmission is indestructible...

Summary:

Luxurious, thirsty Japanese yank tank

Faults:

Not a lot of faults to report:

Front/rear shocks require attention.

Punctured radiator 201,000 km.

Trunk release switch not working.

Driver's side electric window auto-winder not working.

General Comments:

This car is very well built and appointed luxuriously. However, it is quite thirsty on fuel, with my example only reaching 400km from 72L at the best of times.

It handles like a barge, as expected for this age and genre of car. The suspension set up is quite soft, and combined with comfortable seats, is quite comfortable to drive over long distances.

The car is VERY spacious, and the boot is cavernous to say the least. Even with the drivers seat fixed to the rear-most position, the legroom in the rear is still very generous.

All in all, the 280c is quite a good car, however it is aging quite rapidly, and parts are becoming scarce.

Other than that, it is an excellent vehicle.

I used to own one of these. Well it's not a big car. Space is cramped... it looks big, but it's not. The Japanese sure know how to make it look big.

Rust is the issue here, as with all Japanese old cars.

The engine is quiet, the gearbox is smooth, but with the 3 speed auto, fuel consumption is crippling.
