1999 Nissan Pulsar LX 1.6 twin cam 16

Summary:

Fantastic cars; first car, second car, whatever

Faults:

Not much at all.

Had a thermostat replaced.

General Comments:

Great cars, so popular round NZ for good reason too.

Looks great on 15" alloys off the SSS model/ hot import VZ-R spec. Goes well for a 1.6, extremely economical; get around 550kms round town, 620-ish with highway use.

Everything works great, had a lot done to it before I purchased it, such as A/C reconditioned, brakes overhauled, new radiator, new clutch. My only worry is that it sounds like the chain is a bit rattly on startup, but that goes after about 5 seconds.

A wee gripe; the front seats could do with more support and cushioning. Went on a trip down south last month, and got quite a sore back after about 2 hours.

Overall I am very pleased with it. Hopefully will continue to serve me well in the future. Just had an engine service with gearbox flusher around 15 kms ago.

1999 Nissan Pulsar Plus 1.6

Summary:

Please make another Pulsar, the Tiida just isn't it

Faults:

Nothing, this car is bullet proof. I give it heaps, and it just keeps going and going.

General Comments:

I have had my Pulsar plus hatchback for 7 years now. Very reliable +++++++ brilliant.

Reasonable power for what it is.

Corners well, although I have tweaked the suspension and have a strut brace to help it out.

Plenty of room for a general use.

This car does everything I wanted it to do, and more.

1999 Nissan Pulsar Plus 1.6L

Summary:

Fantastic! 10 years on and still running as good as new

Faults:

Clutch replaced at 140,000 kms.

Replacement of other parts eg. CV joint boots, expected from a car this age (10 years).

General Comments:

I have had this car from new, and it is 10 years old now.

It has proven itself to be a very reliable car, and we have had no real problems with it, only the normal wear and tear from 10 years of use.

This car has been driven from Melbourne to Brisbane and back more than 15 times, and we never had any worry about it breaking down.

This is a great car for its size, however if you have 2 baby seats in the back, you can't fit a 3rd passenger there. Not an issue for most people.

1999 Nissan Pulsar SSS 2.0 pi

Summary:

A crackerjack. Bring on a replacement now!

Faults:

Airconditioning vibrates at idle, dealer has replaced it twice under warranty.

Some suspension rattles recently, yet to be rectified.

General Comments:

This was the last of the N15 series and Nissan stripped it to get the price down. hence no passenger airbag, sunroof, map pockets.

What you get is the basic fairly boring looking, but roomy 5 door with larger quality alloys, velour cloth, attractive dials and performance that makes me smile very time.

Great urge, fine handling from added cross-braces and superb reliability.

The only negatives are fairly harsh ride for passengers, some intrusive road noise at cruising speed and the drab charcoal plastic interior.
