1992 Nissan Silvia S13 2.0 petrol

Summary:

An excellent quality bargain

Faults:

The Nissan Silvia has done me very well. I haven't had any major problems since I've owned the car.

However some of the smaller problems include - the brake lights staying on. This was a cheap 5 dollar fix at the auto electrician.

An exhaust rattle. This was a cheap 12 dollar fix at the auto mechanic.

General Comments:

This car runs beautifully. I haven't had any real problems with it yet. Even after a year.

I would recommend this car to almost anyone into a cheaper sports car, because they are a very durable and long lasting car.

Why does my Nissan Silvia S-13 idle at 400 RPM's. The car has the stock ca 18 in it. Is this right? I just got it imported from japan like a month ago. I'm just kinda curious because the car only has 60000 km. Send response to tsk8_420@hotmail.com Thanks for your help. Have a good one boys drift one for me.

I owned one s13 (sr20de) for about 5 years and the only real issue was cracking appearing on the dashboard. Comes with the Australian climate I guess, and some power window problems (switches falling off and such). Sold her and bought a Holden Vectra... If only I found this site before I bought the Vectra!

My Silvia 1992 has 176,000kms on the clock and has the SR20DE Black Top. It is a great car for speed and handling. The car is very very low. There is a hole in the catalyst converter and the exhaust rattles heaps. Oh and it idles at 900 rpm!

1990 Nissan Silvia SX 1.8 twin cam 16v

Summary:

A modifiers' dream

Faults:

Drivers seat needed to be changed as it was highly uncomfortable on long drives.

General Comments:

Handles extremely well in the dry, but the rear tends to drift a bit in the wet. Once I lowered the suspension this was virtually eliminated.

The rear interior is very small, which in turn restricts you to having only one passenger in the front on most occasions.

The standard steering wheel is a bit big, but once changed for a smaller racing wheel, your turning and comfort is improved.

1988 Nissan Silvia K's 1.8 turbo petrol

Summary:

Best bang for your buck

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

My now has Silvia has 220hp with a three inch cat back exhaust, K&N performance injection kit, bleed valve running at 14psi, blow off valve, front mounted intercooler from a Mitsubishi Galant VR4 and an air oil separator.

The automatic gearbox is killing performance but it will still pull low six second sprints to 100km which is enough to embarass WRX Turbo owners.

Struggles for traction in first with 235 tyres on the rear.

Will it improve the performance by just putting an intercooler on the original 1.8 turbo 122HP?

How many HP/KW/PS will I get from that?

Intercoolers are definitely worthwhile if you drive your car hard and essential if you are planning to raise the boost on your car. Remember, if you're raising the boost substantially, the engine will need a lot more fuel. The two best ways to get around this are one, add an extra injector into the system or two, increase the size of the current ones.
