2011 Skoda Superb TDI 4x4 2.0 turbo diesel (103 kw)

Summary:

World's most affordable luxury touring car

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

I purchased this vehicle because of regular travel across an alpine pass for work. It is hard to imagine another vehicle in this price range that would perform this task with the same level of comfort, safety, economy and overall performance.

In standard specification, the 103 kw diesel is a solid performer. I had the ECU remapped, and this made a huge difference to the driveability, with no adverse impact on economy. It is outstanding on steep hills, and overtaking is effortless.

The 4wd system is probably overkill in 99% of driving conditions, but gives some extra reassurance when going up steep roads in wet or icy conditions. For most drivers, I suspect it would be unnecessary.

My vehicle has 3 car seats fitted across the back, and the massive rear legroom is great for getting kids in and out of the car.

It is very hard to find any faults with this vehicle. My only complaint would be that the original tires (Continental Contisport 2's) only lasted just over 20,000 km. They have been replaced with Bridgestones, and hopefully I will get a bit more life out of these.

Definitely get it changed if you plan on keeping the car any longer :)

2011 Skoda Superb Elegance Wagon 2.0 turbo diesel

Summary:

It lives up to its name, elegant and superb

Faults:

Not a thing.

General Comments:

I upgraded from an Octavia vRS wagon, and this is a great car. Have taken it on a driving holiday, and it went like a charm.

A beautiful car to drive, with excellent economy.

I am averaging 5.5 l/100km with half city/country driving. This is amazing, as it gets better economy than the smaller and lighter vRS, with nearly the same engine performance.

The interior is very roomy and fantastic. Every passenger comments on the comfort and the space.

It has so many features, clearly well above the competition for the price. A few people have said they regard it as a serious BMW competitor.

Update on the original review - the vehicle has now done 105000 km. Still no major issues.

Only maintenance item has been a minor exhaust leak, which was inexpensive to fix. Otherwise trouble-free motoring.

I'd love to update to the generation 3 Superb, but it's hard to justify when the current vehicle is still going as well as the day I took it out of the showroom.
