1993 Subaru Loyale 4WD DL 1.8L EA82

Summary:

It is a no-frills car, but ultimately is very practical, reliable and downright unstoppable car

Faults:

Needed a new clutch at 230,000ks (but that's what happens after 3 people have been taught to drive in it) cost:?

Required a new water pump at 235,000Ks. Cost: ~AU$300.

The pipe to the heater from the radiator busted earlier in the year, dripping coolant into the cabin. (236,000km). Cost: ~AU$300.

Currently runs a bit hot for the first 3-4Kms of a trip, but then settles down to a reasonable level.

General Comments:

The Subaru Loyale is an incredible car that my parents owned for 12 years and I recently purchased off them. In that time it has had very few problems and no major problems. It has lasted all kinds of abuse including living in the bush and living next to the salt water and still starts easily every morning.

The inside can be a bit cramped in the back seat for passengers, but there is still plenty of room for cargo etc. in the back.

Overall it is a very cheap car to run with low maintenance costs and it is relatively fuel efficient (approx 10ks/L in city, but would be less if I took off the bull bar).

The old Subby wagon also seems to have its only personality; something I like in a car.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
