2005 Suzuki Swift S 1.5 petrol

Summary:

No major faults, but plastic on plastic rattles disappointing. First and last Suzuki for us

Faults:

Failed passenger front door locking mechanism.

Numerous minor rattles.

General Comments:

Well build and put together, but hard interior plastics and lack of plastic on plastic insulation make rattles quite common. Most easy to fix (at home after dealer fails too).

Roomy in the front, squeezy rear seat (fine for small kids).

Transmission a little baulky from 1st to 2nd.

Engine quite tractable and enjoyable.

Good ride/handling compromise.

Still the best looks in its class.

How do you go about fixing the plastic-to-plastic rattles?

6th Nov 2007, 09:46

It seems EVERY Swift has rattles...

21st Oct 2009, 05:57

Yes, at least they don't seem to get worse after the day you take delivery. :)

I've just fixed another three rattles, but overall the car hasn't gotten much worse.

Just fixed another rattle, but otherwise the car is aging very well (nearly 5 years). Economy now 6L/100 km/hr, mostly around town.

2005 Suzuki Swift VVT 1.5 petrol

Summary:

Good value for your money!

Faults:

Both rear tyre had to be replaced, also new rear axles were required.

Seat covers had to be replaced after 10,000km, this was due to Velcro on my trouser pockets snagging and pulling the material.

General Comments:

A great little car, very responsive and fun to drive.

2005 Suzuki Swift S 1.6 litre petrol

Summary:

The car is good

Faults:

Excessive rear tyre wear, the car has a rear axle problem causing the rear wheels to be out of alignment. I would recommend that Swift owner's keep a close watch on the rear tyre's for excessive wear. My car need's a new rear axle and it has to come from Japan. This is a problem with the Swift model.

General Comments:

Tyre wear over the top.

2005 Suzuki Swift Ltd 1.5 petrol

Summary:

Well done Suzuki! A fantastic first car

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong yet as it's brand new. I'll keep you posted.

General Comments:

A well put together package for NZ $20,000!

Stylish body for such a small car.

It has a peppy engine which can deliver 5 litres/100 k's. Cabin noise is low even at 130 kph.

Handling is tight and responsive.

The cabin is well appointed and thoughtfully designed.

Pity the in-dash Clarion C.D player can't play mp3's though.

Are you sure it's 5 liters to a 100 kilometers or a 1 liter is to 20 km?

4th Nov 2005, 22:50

What's the difference?

19th Nov 2005, 05:43

Wow...1 liter for 20 km??? really???

Did you drive in city or highway?

3rd Dec 2005, 05:29

5 litres per 100 Kilometres on the highway or 7 Litres Per 100 Kilometers around town.
