1984 Mitsubishi Cordia GSL 1.6

Summary:

8 gears in exceptional design

Faults:

There was a lot of rust on the body and the chassis when I got it due to lack of appropriate care of its previous owner (my grandmother).

In the course of time the color (silver) started wearing off especially on the roof because of the sun damaging the clear coat.

Also, there was some loss of oil which almost disappeared after changing the cylinder head gasket.

Finally, the exhaust pipe was completely rusted and only the genuine parts solved the problem for more than 2 years. Non genuine parts are not recommendable though much cheaper.

General Comments:

The Cordia is the finest car I have ever come across. The fact that the Power Shift gearing mechanism allows you to use 8 forward and 2 backward gears really shows what an extraordinary car the Cordia is. This really helps the driver to either drive quite economically (about 10 liters of petrol per 100 km) or to experience real sports car feelings.

What I like best, is the uncommon design of the car. It looks so differently from all the other cars.

The way this car was built also enables an average hobbyist to do most of the necessary repairs and maintenance by himself.

Finally, I am really surprised about the reliability, since my Cordia has now turned 18 and is still running without any major problems. The rust needs constant removing, though.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
