2007 Audi A6 FSI V6 2.8
Summary:
An exciting toy
Faults:
Gasoline does not clean the valves, leading to the formation of deposits that reduce power and increase fuel consumption.
Gasket wear and high consumption. The V6 requires constant oil top-ups.
Faults where the instrument cluster does not light up and the vehicle does not respond to the key due to steering angle sensor lockouts or voltage drops.
The upper control arms and sway bar bushings tend to dry out, producing a sound like an "old bed" when driving over bumps or parking.
The 6.5-inch non-touchscreen and browser glitches are common due to the age of the system.
General Comments:
This car is stunning from every angle.
Its design exudes a powerful allure. It conveys a sporty character through distinctive features—such as the wheels, lower air deflectors, and spoiler—yet, overall, it radiates elegance in its purest form.
The front end features an elongated hood, but the real focal point is the glossy black "Singleframe" grille; shaped like an inverted trapezoid and framed in chrome, it lends the car an air of elegance and refinement. Meanwhile, the headlights resemble narrowed eyes, giving the A6 the appearance of a vehicle poised to pounce—ready for action.
In profile, it displays more elegance than sportiness, as a chrome line traces the outline of the glazed area.
At the rear, the roofline flows seamlessly into the back window, with no abrupt transitions. There is no visible separation between the roof and the rear glass. The exhaust outlets at either end reinforce the impression of a powerful engine suggested by the large grille. The slightly raised trunk lid serves as an excellent aerodynamic and aesthetic feature. Additionally, the elongated taillights are split between the trunk lid and the rear fenders.
The headlights give the car the look of a high-tech vehicle, featuring LED daytime running lights and adaptive functionality—with integrated fog lights—while the LED taillights boast a three-dimensional, U-shaped effect.
Stepping into the cabin feels like sitting in business class on an international flight or in an airport VIP lounge. The sheer number of controls and buttons makes an immediate visual impact. The fluid, wraparound design features aluminum-look trim on the doors and dashboard, along with chrome accents surrounding the air vents and gear shift lever.
Door panel serves as a veritable control center, featuring two seat memory settings, electric mirror controls (including defogging and power-folding functions), window controls, and a child safety lock.
The dashboard features an elegant, curved design that serves a dual purpose: conveying a sense of dynamism while angling toward the driver. The fully leather-wrapped steering wheel offers a wide range of movement and height adjustment, allowing the driving position to be tailored to any stature.
The engine is started via a start/stop button. Upon starting the car, the display greets us with the brand's rings and the model name. It also indicates if any door is open, using a graphic showing the car's silhouette. The climate control system is located on the console, with warning lights positioned below.
Regarding the driving position, the person privileged enough to drive an A6 feels like they are wrapped in luxury. The seating position offers an unobstructed view, the materials are soft to the touch, and the controls are ergonomically arranged for the driver's convenience. The power-adjustable seat offers limitless adjustment options.
It offers exceptional comfort for four people; the two rear passengers travel just as comfortably as the driver and front passenger. Furthermore, the raised roofline solves the issue of headroom. The middle rear seat is uncomfortable due to the transmission tunnel and raised floor; additionally, the backrest is hard because it houses a central armrest containing a first-aid kit.
As for the engine—a 2,773 cc V6—it delivers 204 hp and 280 Nm of torque between 3,000 and 5,000 rpm. It is quiet and offers strong acceleration. It is powerful despite the vehicle's significant weight; the engine is more than up to the task. Acceleration is smooth and progressive.
Driving comfort takes precedence over sportiness. The Stability Control system ensures neutral handling when cornering at high speeds by counteracting understeer. The vehicle's dynamic behavior prioritizes comfort, making it ideal for long journeys; it minimizes stress and fatigue, allowing the driver to remain relaxed behind the wheel.
In cars of this type, it feels as though you are travelling at a lower speed than you actually are; this is because there is no perceptible sense of strain. The steering features an electromechanical, speed-sensitive assist system that adjusts to driving conditions to provide the best possible performance for the driver.
It is a perfect combination of speed, comfort, and safety. Owning one, even today, is a privilege.
