2004 Ford Mondeo ST 3.0

Summary:

A high performance bargain, very luxuriously finished..

Faults:

Nothing at all.

General Comments:

My new st 220 handles like it's on rails, gps navigation is very accurate.

A real wolfe in sheep clothes

Best car Ford has ever build in Belgium. Congrats for Genk factories are in order...

I now live in Belgium, where is Genk in relation to the country and more to the point Brussels where I am situated? I might go and buy a new Ford from there if I can pass my test while out here... though the standard of Brussels' roads means it might have to wait until I "emigrate back" to England! By the way the ST is a fabulous automobile with a sweet-sounding V6, that is easily a match for any modified "boy-racer" Saxo, CRX and what-have-you, plus the added comforts of a family-saloon with all the practicalities. A car which you can buy in your early 20s (as I am now) and keep until your retirement day at about 60! (well maybe supplement it with a Bentley or such like after 40 years of hard work!)

1995 Ford Mondeo CLX Clipper 1.8 TD

Summary:

Very good stable car!

Faults:

My Airco went down when I bought.

I am losing a couple of hundreds of RPM when I turn on my Airco.

Normally I make +-900RPM, but when I turn on my Airco I get +-700rpm which is too low if you want to start driving.

I got powerloss.

Sometimes, my door blocks too and I have to close it again, but a little harder then normally.

General Comments:

I was very happy with this car despite the few malfunctions.

It's very stable in corners and that gives you a safe feeling.

My next car is also a Mondeo, but not a Clipper as this is too big for 1 person.

1999 Ford Mondeo GLX 1.8

Summary:

Good value for money, but nothing show off

Faults:

No incidents to report really. So far car went to the garage only according to the regular maintenance programme.

The only small things to report are: The rear registration plate lights tend to burn quickly. So far I have changed them three times or so. One or two of the heated windscreen wires do not work anymore. Sometimes I have experienced that some of the loudspeakers are silent (6000 radio).

In general I find the car extremely dependable.

General Comments:

Nice spacious car, the only things I miss sometimes are cruise control and more interior lightning (back seat!)

Ghia would be nicer in this respect.

2001 Ford Mondeo Ghia 2.0 turbo diesel

Summary:

Nice car...! But also irritating

Faults:

A very irritating wind noise from the left front door when driving above 90 km/hour, this is still not solved 3 months after I bought the new car, although some efforts have already been made by the dealer. But it seems like the manufacturer can't resolve the problem.

The lights of the brakes at the back of the car are still working, even after removing my foot from the pedal.

Also, this problem hasn't been resolved after 3 months. Tough, the dealer promised me to solve this problem.

After using the seat belt at the back only for a few times, it got stuck. The mechanism doesn't work anymore. Also not solved after 3 months.

The fuel consumption is still not diminishing as the mentioned average for the particular car.

General Comments:

The interior design is very good and there is a lot of space for the passengers.

A note on the seatbelt sticking problem - if you fold the back seats down, then ram them back up again quite hard, the seatbelt should unstick. Happened to me and the dealer fixed it in five minutes.

I also am continued to be annoyed by the squeak caused by the aluminium-effect trim around the gearstick (Zetec model) rubbing against the black plastic side panels of the centre console, which also seem to have a large amount of movement.

My God people stop complaining.. You've got a good car, yet you still complain about nitty gritty things!!! With having over 17 cars in 5 years, I know what a good car is, and if dealers are such a big problem, then just don't use them and save money with independent dealers... Full service history isn't all that you know when having to use idiot dealers who haven't got a clue... My Mondeo diesel is one damn good car and far better than the previous models by far... Just enjoy the fact that it's not an Alfa, and it doesn't break down all the time.. Hope I haven't offended anyone, but come on!!!

Faults:

Nothing serious, only the quickclear that should clear the front window does not work properly.

General Comments:

A comfortable car, a lot of space.

Only the power is a little poor. A more powerful engine would be appreciated
