2012 Renault Megane 1.9 turbo diesel

Summary:

I'm very happy with it

Faults:

So far nothing.

Only thing I noticed is that interior build quality is a little bit poorer than what I had in my previous Megane III.

No big deal, but if you look you would notice.

General Comments:

After having a 1.6 Megane III petrol for almost 3 years, this 1.9 diesel is A DREAM.

All of my complaints are gone. The car just flies, and its 6 gears are perfect for this engine.

Recently I went on longer trip (over 3000 km) with it, and all I can say I'm very very happy with this car.

Very fast and low consumption.

Handling is good, comfort is good, but I expect more from Renault in that department. Only thing I REALLY miss is a hands free option. In my last Renault I had it, and now I'm having nightmares forgetting to insert the card to start it.

I was not a fan of diesel cars, but I'm starting to change my opinion about them. This IS one seriously fast car, and don't forget its caravan version.

2009 Renault Megane 1.6

Summary:

Good car with an underpowered engine

Faults:

Nothing important.

General Comments:

On positive side, it's a very nice car, especially the one I bought. Had hands free opening and starting the car, parking sensors etc etc.

On negative side, for almost 3 years I was not that happy with the car. Something was wrong, and from beginning I suspected its gear box. 6 gears for a 1.6 engine is just too much, and my gas consumption was very bad, especially because I had an Opel Astra 1.6 petrol before, and all I wanted is to have (if nothing else) the same consumption.

Open road consumption was at best 7l/100km. If you like speed, forget about fuel economy. This thing drinks 20L if you go 180 km/h (and that's almost near maximum speed).

In the city, things get even worse. Initially I had over 12L/100km, and after ONE YEAR of learning how to drive this thing, I made it to consume 10 to 11L/100 km. The gear box is the reason if you ask me.

Finally I had very bad accident with the car (total damage). Airbag didn't open, and I had my seat belt on. Renault took the car for a check, and informed me that there is nothing wrong with the airbag. Funny thing is that I was hit from the side and pushed off the road, flew in around a 10 meter hole, and hit with the front of the car into the ground.

It is possible that radiation from Saturn and Mars somehow messed up my airbag, but if you ask me, it's Renault's fault.

1997 Renault Megane RT 1.6e

Summary:

Good, reliable, cheap to run, comfortable car

Faults:

Nothing has one wrong with this car since I bought it (three years ago). Regular service is all you need to do to keep it fault free. It looks like all complaints about this model come from UK - maybe there is something wrong with models exported to GB. I really can't believe that oil-leaking rovers, mg-s and jaguars are more reliable.

General Comments:

The car is very quick comparing to other manufacturers with similar engine (90HP). It has a comfortable ride, better than much larger cars that come from Germany. It's cheap to run, parts are not expensive. Even the most basic model has some nice touches like wipers with sensors...

Seats are comfy for longer trips and there is enough room for four grown-ups.

1996 Renault Megane Coupe Coach 1.6e 1.6i

Summary:

Great handling and great looking car

Faults:

Right rear window stopped working (fixed it myself)

The gasoline locker stopped working (fixed it my self, Renault service wanted 100EUR for fixing that)

Gearbox partially broken.2nd gear sometimes gets out of it's place.

General Comments:

The car handling is great and it's really enjoy to drive.

The car is very attractive and comfort for driver and co driver, although there's not much space on rear seats.

Car handling is great, it's very stable and pretty fast.

One thing I miss on this model is lack of ABS.
