2003 Peugeot 307 XT 2.0 petrol

Summary:

It would be excellent if it was reliable

Faults:

Automatic transmission solenoids and pressure sensor failed at 60,000 kilometers. Around 1,000 USD to repair.

Loose metal fins inside exhaust made a monstrous rattle. Dealer had to remove the exhaust system and weld.

Turning stalk stick sometimes doesn't engage.

Horn stopped working around 60,000 kilometers.

CD changer stopped working 50,000 kilometers.

ABS system fault warning appears sporadically.

Catalytic converter and anti-pollution system fault warning appears sporadically, engine loses power completely, and needs to be restarted. Happened to me on the highway.

General Comments:

Excellent ride and handling.

Smooth auto transmission, but useless manual operation with the "tip-tronic" type switch, very unresponsive.

Silent engine for everyday driving.

Lots of comfort features that help (when they work), like auto lights, wipers,...

2003 Peugeot 307 HDi 2.0 turbo diesel

Summary:

Pretty car, but is impossible to be comfortable when the car tells you that everything is wrong

Faults:

It really has electrical problems, the control panel lights up like a Christmas tree.

General Comments:

I have owned many Peugeot in my life (two 504, one 405, one 306, one 205 and ones 206, before I bot the 307 I would have recommended Peugeot to anyone with my eyes closed, now I would have to think about it.
