2014 Toyota Auris Icon Plus V-Matic 1.5 petrol

Summary:

Economical and well made

Faults:

No significant problems so far.

One thing to note is the excessive oil consumption, above average in my opinion.

Then there were electrical issues such as reports of the multimedia screen freezing, crashing, and restarting, affecting infotainment functions.

Occasional squealing in the clutch, mostly due to cable problems.

General Comments:

The 2014 Auris offers ample space, especially considering it's a compact car. The front seats feel very spacious, with plenty of headroom even for taller drivers.

Moving inside, the impression is of a high-quality, robust vehicle with excellent finishes and materials. The center console has a pleasing and functional design; only the clock's unexpected placement feels slightly out of place.

There are several storage compartments, the glove box is spacious, and the storage space under the center armrest has two levels. Sunglasses have their own place next to the rearview mirror panel, and there are two cup holders.

Rear seats are also comfortable and there is enough legroom, and there is also sufficient headroom, although taller passengers may struggle a bit.

Speaking of height, I almost forgot to mention the spectacular sunroof in the test vehicle. The optional Skyview package opens up a world of sensations with this exceptionally long roof that guarantees abundant natural light and breathtaking views.

The trunk is spacious and well-finished, and can be expanded thanks to the split-folding rear seatbacks.

There's a lower level with a completely flat floor, offering ample space for smaller items. Beneath this is the standard storage compartment for tools and a tire repair kit.

I really like the detail of the removable trays in the side compartments. It makes them more practical and also easier to clean.

Finding the perfect driving position in the Auris is very easy. The various seat and steering wheel adjustments, including height, make it simple. The sporty seats surprised me with their comfort and excellent lateral support; I really loved them.

Driving this car is a real pleasure. The noise level is very low and the vehicle handles very stably. It feels great driving it both in small towns and on the open road.

The 1.5 engine is super economical and smooth, as well as being quite quiet, mechanically robust and reliable like a good Toyota.

2007 Toyota Auris Base model 1.4 petrol

Summary:

Good if you are an old lady or a first time driver!

Faults:

Rattling noises here and there.

Weird electrical noise when braking and turning at the same time.

Seat belt sensor sometimes beeps constantly, even when my seat belt is on.

Water pump leak; had to be changed at 40000 km.

General Comments:

The car is reliable, but slow, not fun to drive and so floaty (springs are so soft) as to be dangerous if you have to do an avoidance maneuver (happened to me couple of times, barely managed not to crash).
