2011 Mercedes-Benz E-Class E200 CDI 2.2 diesel

Summary:

The best or nothing

Faults:

Air springs rear, coil springs front, blower motor, seat cover, oil pan.

General Comments:

Former taxi cab.

Original drivetrain, never opened or repaired.

Very comfortable and adequate power, though it’s equipped with the smallest diesel engine!

Some issues has occurred, but it’s what you can expect on a high mileage car.

High build quality, very reliable, high comfort and very low consumption for a relatively big car.

Average mileage 40-47 mpg or 17-20 km/l or 5-6 l/100 km.

2003 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Elegance 3.2 CDI turbo diesel

Summary:

The best or nothing!

Faults:

Motor mount needs replacement.

General Comments:

An incredible strong and very smooth driving car.

This particularly car has been on the road for over 15 years and accumulated 569000 km, but still feels and look like new. This is of course mainly due to a meticulously maintenance and yearly undercoating.

This car was made for the autobahn and it cruises easily and relaxed at 200+ km/h. The comfort and quietness in the cabin is superior.

The engine is a chapter on its own. The L6 3,2 liter common rail direct injection turbo diesel, has pulling power like a muscle car and a fuel economy like a Honda Civic. The sound is awesome and yet very quiet for a diesel, once it has warmed up.

Don’t hesitate to buy one, if you come across one....

1997 Mercedes-Benz E-Class E420 4.2 V8

Summary:

Rusty as your neighbors '69 Fiat

Faults:

Generally the car was reliable in a certain way, because the engine always started, and the brakes worked.

Rusty.

Electronic seat's memory never worked.

Electronic seats would not move some times.

Transmission broken - $7000.

Touch n' go broken several times.

Leather on the backseat split.

Air-conditioning was very slow.

Radio never worked, bought some Chinese crap for $180 that worked much better.

General Comments:

Mercedes-Benz made the car good for first impressions only. When I first drove it, the car was the most comfortable car I ever had driven. The impressions of the V8 were very good, when driving on the road it was quiet, and when pushing the throttle, you certainly got what you required.

After 1000 km.

When hitting the throttle for an acceleration from 80 to 160 km/t, it surprised me that the gearbox took 2 seconds before it shifted down, and that was a pain, when you wanted to overtake a truck.

It started early to get rusty; I found some in the trunk, and then it got worse. When I sold the car there was rust everywhere, and it was only a matter of months before it thoroughly corroded, and then you could take it to the dealer and complain.
