2000 Oldsmobile Alero GLS 3.4L V6

Summary:

Awesome design, fantastic ride quality, poor build and material quality!

Faults:

Dashboard curled, rust...

General Comments:

This is my third Alero, so far the best, but none of them had been driven very much by me.

The thing with these cars is that it's a very nice car to drive; good response, quick acceleration, nice comfort although on the harsh side, but the quality is very disappointing; the leather interior is cracking, the dashboard is curled up, the sound deadening is not sufficient. Despite that, the car is overall very quiet; at cruising speeds you don't notice the engine, only during acceleration...

The exterior quality is bad; rust is coming through in several places; the rocker panels are ready to be repaired, the rear doors have surface rust on the inside, and the hood too. Other spots are appearing... Compared to much cheaper and older European cars, it's very bad...

I'm considering making this my daily driver, but the quality issues may make me reconsider. I know it's a fifteen year old car, but for me it's nearly new :)

Just to let you know; the new car price in DK was approx. 70,000$.

By the way; the Olds Alero was sold in Europe under the Chevrolet brand, as the Chevrolet Alero! The Olds logos are still on the car, but the front logo has been replaced by the Chevy bowtie!

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know
