2005 Chery Windcloud A11 LX 1.6 petrol

Summary:

If you don't care about being seen in a Chinese car!.. Buy it!

Faults:

Just the clutch pedal was little too high when I purchased, the dealer lowered it upon my request.. Nothing else.

General Comments:

So much fun to drive, and surprising high performance from this car, even if you compare it with Japanese or Korean ones.

Many people still say Chinese car!!.. I too was worry before buying this Chery, but after experience with it, I can recommend this car for anyone who wants a strong, reliable, economical family car for a reasonable price (considering the too high prices of Japanese or European vehicles in Egypt, which is nearly double the price if compared with many other countries!.. don't know why?!)

As everything has advantages and weak points, the Chery has a little bit of a nervous engine, but it is strong, but too loud for 1600cc engine. Besides the exhaust pump is not fixed tightly, so it moves and makes some noise when you drive on non asphalted roads.

About the dealer here - the service they give is really good, and the place is very spacious and elegant. A good effort that I didn't see matched by Subaru.

After all, it is an excellent car with a strong body and engine, fun driving, good fuel consumption (10 km per liter in average), and much equipment such as ABS, central locking, air bags.. etc.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I agree; good car, but bad reputation.

The cars in Egypt are expensive because like Syria and Jordan, they have an outrageous car tax when you buy a new car. In Syria it can be as much as 200%, so even the very rich in Syria drive a new Ford Taurus or Toyota Camry.

Hi, I`m the original writer.

After 3 years, and the car made 100000 KM the transmission broke down, I replaced it with a Golf 2 transmission. The transmission problem happened to many other Chery A11 owners, so it is the car`s weakest point.

About the dealer whom I praised in my review, unfortunately after they have sold a lot of this Chery the service became very very bad, and the spare parts prices went up!

100.000 KM in slightly more than 4 years is heavy utilisation for a Chinese car. As a matter of fact, Chinese cars are improving; consequently they need some time to make a "real car".

And I believe that the first real car from China will be rolled out from the factory soon.
