1998 Chrysler Stratus LE 2.0 SOHC

Summary:

2.0 economic, suspension sporty

Faults:

Head valve gasket blew at 65000kms, got new for guaranty.

Radio is complicated to use.

Remote control key went broken after 4 years of use.

Gas cap is badly designed, difficult to open with very small key.

General Comments:

Head lights are lousy.

Ride is quite rough because of the European style sporty suspension. handles well.

2.0 liter engine is economic, but not very powerful. I have reached low 8 liters/100km, and the pickup is done at approximately 11 seconds 0 to 100km/h.

Seats are good, but driver leg room is quite small for over 185 cm or 6" tall person.

1996 Chrysler Stratus LE 2.5L V6

Summary:

Stylish, well-equipped 4-door sedan with a lot of pickup!

Faults:

Bent brake rotors, has been cured twice.

This has occurred twice: After long trip at steady speeds, the engine idles roughly or even dies. The problem cures itself in few minutes when driving in a city at lower speeds. Service couldn't replicate or fix the problem.

Noise level is quite high. Especially tire noise which tends to penetrate into the cabin.

Headlights are lousy. I have to use fog-lights quite often when driving in night/rain.

General Comments:

The car is quite fast and the automatic transmission works like a dream. Stratus have a lot of pickup when passing.

Steering is sensitive, yet the car can be easily maneuvered in tight parking spaces.

Suspension is more European-like than American-like. It's a nice car for both the city and highway.

Stratus offers a lot of car with all its equipment (air conditioning, automatic transmission, ABS, double airbags to mention few) for an affordable price.

Exterior of the car is very nice. Especially the front facia, is very different from other brands and overall design of the body lines is wonderful.
