2002 Volkswagen Polo SDI 1.9 diesel

Summary:

NEVER EVER buy a Volkswagen!

Faults:

OK! the first thing to go off was wheel bearings, replaced at VW garage.

Next month, clutch started slipping. Replaced.

Next week the clutch went down, towed back to the dealer! Got the car back in three days! Drove around 20 kms, Clutch went down again!

OK! Towed back to the dealer, I asked them to fix it properly and got the car back next week with new clutch, new gearbox, ABS sensors and some other little things, and paid a bill of nearly 2000 euros! Yes 2000.

OK! Drove it back home, the clutch went down on a motorway at midnight. Towed back to the dealer and asked for a refund, they refused to issue any refund.

I said, OK fix it, everything is under warranty! Now it's been three months, the car is at VW garage. The worst service, and the worst car. I would ask any VW officials reading this to review their dealership in Finland.

General Comments:

The worst car ever made! VW really really sucks.

I bought this car for damn 7000 euros and paid over 2000 euros to get it fixed, but they can't fix it.

1997 Volkswagen Polo 1.4 8v

Summary:

A nice car with classic design

Faults:

- There have been some rust in the left front door.

- The break lights doesn`t work, but they start to work when you knock them, there are some contact problems.

General Comments:

I really like this car because it`s nice to drive and the quality is good, (no fatal problems).

The engine is a bit old fashioned, but it works well.

- The rust protection is good, wax in the doors and other cases and PVC under the car.

2000 Volkswagen Polo Firstline 1.0

Summary:

A reliable basic car

Faults:

There is something wrong with the oil pressure light/sound. I believe it is a some kind of a sensor fault.

Happened to me a couple of times that when driving, suddenly the alarm light and sound come on and scare me off.

General Comments:

In the winter, the doors were frozen so that I had to crawl from the trunk to the cockpit. I still think that this is a good winter car.

1,0 liter motor is a little bit too small. The driver can see it especially when driving from ramps with short lane for acceleration and trying join with the other traffic on the highway.

When you want to disable the passenger seat's airbag, you have to take the car to VW service. I think this is something a driver should be able to himself.

The front light bulbs are quite hard to change by yourself and it is not even recommended by the owner's manual. Again something a driver should be able to do himself rather than taking this car to VW service.
