1980 Peugeot 505

Summary:

Comfortable high performance

Faults:

Ignition switch, motor rebuild, fuse box melted, wheel bearings went, suspension had to be rebuilt.

General Comments:

In general the car is 20 yrs old, the only repairs made were made to parts that had worn over the past 20yrs which is natural for any car on the road today.

Modified, race suspension - lowered 3 inches, worked motor - 140kw, Holley carb system, various other modifications.

Wow, what engine did you use in this car?? 140KW from the standard 1971cc engine... surely it's not possible?

1984 Peugeot 505 GTi 2.2 injection petrol

Faults:

Electric items are very erratic, and in particular the fuel injection.

General Comments:

Virtually impossible to work on yourself (NO room in the engine compartment, fuel injection pipes block access to everything else). Peugeot dealers here (in France) VERY expensive, and utterly uninterested in resolving problems (standard service procedures "by the book", anything outside that, forget it !!)

As an owner of a 505 GTi1989 model, I agree with all comments made. ditto for Australia - it's a French conspiracy to continue to export bombs to the south acific under the guise of Peugeot logo instead of Muraroa and bikini.
