2004 Renault Scenic 1.9 dCi turbo diesel

Summary:

Can't help but wonder how Renault stays in business..

Faults:

Various turbo issues, electrical niggles, oil leaks and leaking brakes.

General Comments:

This review is in regard to my mother in law's Scenic.

Just like the Laguna 1.9 dCi I bought when moving here from the USA, the Scenic is a piece of junk. The turbo cuts out and the car goes into limp home mode. It gets "fixed", then a few weeks later the same problem comes up again from another source.

The driver's side brake caliper blew a seal and dumped fluid all over the driveway, right next to the oil stains it already made. Total piece of crap!

There is a reason why Americans won't touch French cars, and considering some of the junk Detroit has cranked out, that ain't saying much!

2001 Renault Scenic rx4 1.9 dci

Summary:

Half hearted attempt from Renault

Faults:

When the car had only done 30 000 kilometers I had to replace the clutch as oil had leaked onto it. Despite the car being under warranty we had to pay part of the replacement as classed as a usable part.

Twice the catalytic converter has been replaced.

Latest problem is with the rear transmission which is going to cost 1000Euros to replace!

Petrol cap broke and cost 50euros for replacement, not including time. When at the garage to collect part there were two other RX4 owners waiting to collect their broken petrol caps too!

General Comments:

We have had nothing, but problems with this model and Renault just don't want to know about it.
