General Comments:

I am a very happy owner of this very late XJS. I don't know why, but there's hardly anyone who sees the coupe and isn't impressed at all. Thanks to the 4-speed automatic, it can also be driven dynamically and sportily if desired. You can feel the weight of the engine at the front, but you get used to it quite quickly. It understeers slightly in tighter corners, which can quickly turn into forgiving, manageable oversteer, depending on the throttle. I find the chassis to be extremely good, at higher speeds even better than the late S-Type 4.0L. Trunk is comfortably large.

Note the large doors, the dimensions of the vehicle, which are difficult to assess at least initially, and the relatively large turning circle. Therefore, only sufficiently large parking spaces are suitable.

Always watch the temperature, never let it get very close to or in the red area. But don't panic if it increases in traffic jams or high loads, that's just normal with the typical V12 heat development.

Regarding the overall costs, it should be said that this is a complex vehicle class. Comparable vehicles are certainly not cheaper to maintain. The fuel consumption, no wonder, depends heavily on driving behavior. Realistic from 12l per 100km / 23mpg(imp) at a largely constant speed, from 16l per 100km / 18mpg(imp) with a fun ride.

They are nice cars, good review. My neighbor had one, and had his fair share of problems, but didn't say it was an unreliable car, just expensive, but that is to be expected.
