2010 Peugeot 308 Vti 1.4 gasoline

Summary:

Nice, underpowered engine, problematic car

Faults:

At 10000 km the car started consuming oil. Approximately 1lt every 4000 km. The official dealer told me it was normal and there was no need to take any action.

At 100000km I had an indication of faulty anti-pollution while I was on a trip. The analyser was reporting a cylinder misfire. After 10000 km the same error (anti-pollution faulty) came back, only this time the alarm was blinking and the engine was shutting down in low throttle. Opening the engine showed a broken exhaust valve... (two small pieces were missing from the base of the valve)... We had to replace:

1 piston.

All piston rings on all 4 pistons.

All exhaust valves.

Also we had to replace the thermostat of the car, since it was broken and was leaking anti-coolant.

The last part replaced was the engine cover, since the oil return looked blocked.

Also I need a key replacement as it gives me an anti-theft faulty error and I have to use the spare key.

General Comments:

It has a nice feel driving it, though is under powered.

Easily going for 350-400 km trips without stopping, even on not so good roads.

If it wasn't for the engine problems it gave me, I would have been really happy with this car.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
