1991 Toyota Tercel EZ 1.5 gas

Summary:

Good first car

Faults:

Piston o-rings (bad servicing).

Carburetor air intake valve kept jamming.

General Comments:

This was my first car, and it ran great when I bought it. I did not service it for over 8 months, and when I finally changed the oil, it was like coke, which meant a loss of power.

2 months after I bought it I crashed it (not my fault though), and it spent over 40 days at the garage, with the engine uncovered, after which the carburetor's intake valve kept jamming, which felt like the car was choking when you tried to accelerate.

Roomy and nice for a bachelor, fast when in good conditions, extremely high mileage. Had to sell it after I left my first wife, wanted to get rid of all the memories.

1995 Toyota Tercel 1.6 gas

Summary:

Ugly duckling

Faults:

- Engine blown shortly after buying it.

General Comments:

The vehicle was bought as an emergency, but was never my favorite. Being a lover of big cars, this small automatic vehicle made me feel very uncomfortable.

Gas mileage was great, and acceleration was good, but you could hear every bump, every pebble and every turn of the wheels inside.

Repair of the engine was not as expensive as expected (parts are easily found and are cheap), and was more than glad to sell it.

1990 Toyota Tercel EZ 1.5 gasoline

Summary:

Small, but comfortable

Faults:

It was a wonderful vehicle, did not bother me at all.

General Comments:

It is a very quick car.

It gives a very high mileage, which is important here in Central America.

Despite the size of the car, the cabin is very comfortable and the cargo space in the back has plenty of room.
