2000 Mazda 323 GLX 1.6 petrol

Summary:

A solid, reliable and boring everyday car

Faults:

Airflow sensor gone bad twice.

Front seat back support worsens with time.

Hole developed in exhaust manifold by the time I got the car.

General Comments:

Fuel consumption ridiculous at 10.5km/l at any speed or environment.

Severely underpowered.

Quite noisy on highway.

Very bad and noisy on bumpy pavements.

Driver and passenger develop back pain after a one hour drive.

Good handling, excellent transmission, solid interior fittings, mostly reliable, will take you from point A to B very well, but that's it.

I drove a mazda323 model 2004, and I think it was one of the best cars I owned in my life. I tried the Mazda 3, and the Honda civic, but no car like a 323 Mazda.

I'm quite astonished to read this review because I've read lots of reviews about Mazda 323 and hardly anyone has put down one bad word about this car. But this review is really opposite with million of faults mentioned!!!

Well, I question a review that lists fuel consumption as being the same regardless of operating conditions. There is no way any car, even a hybrid, will ge the same exact gas mileage every since mile.

2000 Mazda 323 LX 1.6

Summary:

Good family car, not for racers..

Faults:

Ignition coils malfunctioned after the engine was steam cleaned. It cost approximately 120$ and car was back on business.

General Comments:

Maintenance is quite cheap, very reliable, but engine power is relatively weak. Road behavior is good in turns, but springs are quite hard so the car is a bit "jumpy". You don't have the comfortability of a european car.

1993 Mazda 323 GLX 1.6

Summary:

Fill her up and drive. No worries

Faults:

Radiator head cracked after 120,000 km.

General Comments:

Unbelievably reliable: the only time I had to take this car to the garage (excluding regular service) was when the radiator head cracked - after nearly 10 years and 120000 kilometers.

It's also quite efficient (roughly 12 km/liter).

A bit noisy over 100 km/h.

1999 Mazda 323 F GLX 1.8

Summary:

Don't buy it, buy the VW Golf 1.8

Faults:

The plastic covers which are located on the front-floor area were broken after 12,000 km!

The steering wheel is very heavy, and the mirrors are too small!

The seats are uncomfortable.

A Mazda is 10 times more reliable than Volkswagen.

What do you mean 10, they're 1000 times more reliable than VW. Learned that from my experience with a VW Polo, Nissan Almera and a Mazda 323 1.5 (290.000 km)!!

How can you compare a Volkswagen with a Mazda? There's a big diffirence between these car builders. The motor of a Mazda for example: the 1.6 has a higher performance than a 1.6 from Volkswagen. The seats of a Volkswagen are a bit stiff, the seats of a Mazda feel good when you have to drive long distances.

And a lot of more.....
