2010 Volkswagen Jetta Trendline 1.6 turbo diesel DSG 7 speed

Summary:

Don't hesitate, buy one!

Faults:

Gear change controller changed under warranty at 40K.

Loose door panel bolt.

The gear change can be a bit juddery from 1st to 2nd sometimes, so dealer said the clutch will be changed also under warranty.

General Comments:

Best car I ever owned! Perfect drive, precise VW handling and very economical on diesel. I do 80% motorway and 20% urban mix, and get at least 20km/ltr (or 56 imperial MPG), which is great for a saloon.

Automatic air-con version on this car is fiddly and unclear, with very small and similar buttons; something that doesn't add to driver safety.

Cruise control is excellent.

Huge trunk and incredibly more practical than a 5-door Golf. Can seat 5 people comfortably, including all their luggage and the kitchen sink!

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Problems with the VW DSG7 are very common. This is fine if the car is planned to be used in the warranty period only. However if it is bought for a longer period, this is going to be an issue, because repair costs of the clutch and mechatronic are huge.

This problem would also affect trade in prices. However the market has not reacted to this as much yet.

People driving in city conditions should avoid the DSG7.
