I have a newly acquired 87 acura integra ls, equipped with the standard 1.6 liter, that does the exact same thing- Idles high, fluctuating from 2500-2700 rpm, for a few minutes, then slowly decreasing to about 1000 rpm. I am hoping that a simple PCV Valve replacement/ cleaning will REMEDY this, however I am by no means certain as to what to do. Any feedback, comments, or advice is appreciated :D.

I have a 1994 Acura Integra RS. It has over 400,000 km's on it. It started to idle up and down, just as you described. I thought it was a sensor, but there wasn't a code or check engine light to be seen. I took it apart to do a routine timing belt replacement and I adjusted the valve clearances and it has idled normally ever since (three months, 9,000 kms ago). It's a simple fix and you are supposed to do it every 50,000km or so. I hope this helps!
