2005 Nissan Sentra SG-L 1.6

Summary:

This car has many surprises!!

Faults:

My Sentra 1.6 SG-L (2005 model) is only slightly over 2 months old. Just did my 5000km service. I was very happy with my car initially, but I had to replace the unit shift or "computer box" as problems were detected during the 5000km service. One week later the alarm was giving me problems and needed to be replaced. I have to manually open the driver's door with the key as it is connected to the alarm which need to be changed out. Luckily there is a 3 year warranty period and these parts were replaced for free.

I am very surprise to have so many problems with a 2 month old Nissan Sentra which is the latest model. Maybe it's just my bad luck!! My previous car was a Proton Wira and even after 60,000km it did not give me any problems.

The people at Nissan Service at Jln Ipoh, KL provides excellent service and they seem sorry for me that this car is giving me quite a lot of problems.

General Comments:

It's a good car to own if it does not give this much problems.

Luckily it's under warranty. Suggestion is to quickly sell off this car once the warranty is over or else I will need to pay thru my nose for the repairs!

My sentra had a bad accident (frontal impact). I thought it is going to be a write off, but the guys at Jalan Kemajuan did an excellent repair job, the car (a 2 years old) is now like a brand new car. I strongly believe your sentra after being rectified these minor problem, it would last for years due to its reliability.

Summary:

This car is value for money in its range

Faults:

Ever thing is OK, except wheel alignment a bit out when I first have the car.

General Comments:

This is my second car ever since I got my driving license. Overall, it is a very good car. It has good pick up, good handling and very stable at 90km/h when O/D feature is on. The sound proof is quite good as well.

However, it isn't very smooth during gear changing compare to Toyota Vios (which you only feel minimum impact).

Its fuel consumption is normal, in average it is 11km/litter in city. Yes it is much expensive than Toyota.

The engine sound is very loud when I start my car in the morning. I had checked with the technician, they said it is normal as engine is warming up.

It is not very smooth when the RPM is above 3 (around 80km/h) with OD feature turn off (RPM will drop to 2 when OD is on and car speed maintain at 80km/h). I turn off the OD is because one of my friend told me OD will consume more petrol.

Other than these, it is very comfortable and a good car. I definitely will buy one again if my doubt of the above is cleared.

Don't believe your friend. Overdrive is the total opposite of wasting gas. It conserves gas because it acts as a higher gear for highway speed travel. With the overdrive off, the engine is revved up at 3000 rpms and wastes fuel, wears the engine prematurely, and could wear out 3rd gear. So my advice is that you take full advantage of the overdrive feature cause it will save you gas, money, and keep your car in better condition.
