1997 Peugeot 406 Break ST 1.8 16v

Summary:

Worth every euro..., will buy one again

Faults:

Just a little while ago the steering pump had to be replaced (approx 450 Eur).

Since it runs on LPG I have had some troubles. Therefor an injector had to be replaced.

In general very few things have gone defective. Only some maintenance had to be done such as new tyres, rubbers and exhaust.

General Comments:

Must say it has been a pleasure driving and as with all the other Peugeots (4) I owned a very reliable comfortable car.

Very nice car for its purpose, when you have a small family and dogs.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

Probable cause is:

1) Dirty fuel filter.

2) Clogged electric fuel pump.

3) If not the above, then is for sure: The electric conduit for the immobilizer, in the area/door where you open or close it!!!

The cable there breaks easily.

My Peugeot 406 1.8 -97 used to have this problem as well, the motor just stopped when slowing down in idle, e.g. at red lights. The problem was fixed by renewing the controller of the idle running of the motor. I don't know the exact term for this controller/actuator, it is about 3+1 cm push/pull axis. The cost was around 300 (!) euros for the exchange part and work.
