1977 Renault 14 TL 1.2 petrol

Summary:

When it was old and worn I bought the 1980 version of the same car, which had far less rust problems

Faults:

The car rusted badly

In moist weather the car sometimes had starting difficulties.

General Comments:

This car was a revolutionary design which was far roomier on the inside than it looked on the outside.

The 1.2 litre short stroke engine was built by Peugeot, and felt more powerfully than the figures (57hp) made to expect.

Although the suspension was extremely soft, the car was very well at fast cornering.

I wish you luck with your R14 - I have just bought one from 1980 and only the 3rd owner. I have bought it from 2nd owner who have only had it for 1300 km. The car has 188000 km on the counter, and is in resonbly state.

Would like to get in touch with other R14 owners who know where to get maintains sheets and spare-parts.

1977 Renault 14 TL 1.2

Summary:

A modern and safe car from 1977

Faults:

Only normal wear and tear.

Until I crashed the car beyond repair under a lorry.

Only the radio was saved and used in the Renault 18 that replaced the 14.

General Comments:

A very modern looking car for its time.

Very comfortable too.

The safety cage saved my life in the crash that ended the life of the car. I did not have any injuries!

My father has still this car, We really love it.

It was too modern for its time. Its design is simple and at the same time, it was an overrefined style.
