2004 Acura 1.7 EL Touring 1.7 EL

Summary:

A sure winner

Faults:

Nothing at all!

General Comments:

I love this car, everyone that sits inside always comments what a nice luxurious car it is, leather seats, heated seats… etc… sometimes they comment… Honda right?..... in which I correct them while booting them out at the next stop light; it’s an ACURA!... hahahah.

Anyhow… just like to report that I have had no major problems with my car, I have only performed regular service as needed advised by my Acura Dealer, oil change, tune up, and recently at 105,000 kms replaced my brakes and tires.

The Acura dealer where my car is serviced has been very honest to date. When the car was purchased, I had asked the question? “Do my tires and brakes need replacing or servicing?’, the answer was, no, plenty of tread and brakes left.

Three years later (2009), I just replaced both my brakes and tires. However this decision was completely up to me, I was never pressured in any way. I drive my car each day about 120kms, driving a windy aggressive mountain side, traveling at speeds of 90km/h to 110km/h. Overall the engine could use more horsepower, but I have to admit I have had five passengers loaded in my car and have little or no whining from the engine traveling up steep hills.

It’s bad to hear that others on this site have not received equal customer service from dealership, especially the girl with the gas needle problem.

2002 Acura 1.7 EL

Summary:

Perfect... up to 70, 000 km

Faults:

- The back hatch stopped working

- The automatic switch broke

- The heat shield rested off at 80,000 km

- Ball bearings are already gone

- Rev's at 4000rpm when doing 130km

General Comments:

I am eager to sell this car. At about 70,000 km the problems started, and have kept on getting worse.

Unless you do anything to the motor, it is somewhat quick, but not fast.

It is not a reliable car. You are better off buying a Civic... it is just like it, but with an A instead of an H on the front.

I have an 02 EL since new - it has NO Hatch to break, "ball bearings"??? are great and it has 86,000km. Strange review.

We have a 2002 Acura 1.7EL since new and had no problem. We had to change brakes and chocks and timing belt, but it's the normal use. It's 122,000 km... and we still love it...

2001 Acura 1.7 EL Premium

Summary:

A Civic with Bling

Faults:

For some reason, my AC didn't turn on one time. The light lit up as if it were activated, but no cold air blew through. Fortunately, the next time I drove the car that day, the issue disappeared. It hasn't since returned.

General Comments:

I basically was looking for a car with Civic like reliability and fuel efficiency, with some luxury cues, and the Acura delivered. I picked up off of a nice older woman who didn't drive it more than 40kph (seriously). Got the car for an amazing price. Spend money applying tint and protective film on the hood, along with replacing the gas cap, but besides that, all good.

2003 Acura 1.7 EL premium 1.7 vtech

Summary:

Perfect 10, get noticed

Faults:

I have had my acura for almost 1 year and not yet have I done any sort of maintenance besides your normal oil changes. This car is definitely built well and always reliable. My leather seats are not wearing at all they still appear to be brand new.

General Comments:

This acura model is definitely a perfect 10. It picks up and goes rather quickly very fast and fun to drive too. Sporty and sleek looking. It has great leather heated seats which our perfect for our cold canadian winters. The great part is that you can dress this car up a bit and add shirt kits, etc. I love the gas mileage first car that hasn't sucked back gas. Very economical, I would definitely purchase another Acura.

Could you please tell me where I could find these upgrade kits for the body and engine?
