Faults:

Not much has really gone wrong with my Acura. Let's see, I had to replace the half shaft on each side around 230,000 miles.

The brake pads, calipers, rotors, were replaced at 240,000 miles.

The transmission just started shifting erratically about a week ago.

General Comments:

Amazingly, the car now as close to 270,000 miles on it and still has the original enigine and transmission in it.

It is candy apple red and has absolutely no rust.

The inside is great. It comes stock with an equalizer, and also a sun roof which comes with three different tops.

Finally, after all this time the transmission is now shifting erratically. How many cars do you know that have 270,000 miles on them and still run with a stock engine and transmission?

Faults:

Starting from the ground up:

Front tires.

Brakes.

2 bent rims.

Struts/shocks.

Windshield water bottle.

Hatch struts.

Air conditioning.

Front axles and CVs.

All seats.

The entire engine.

Clutch.

Carpets.

Exhaust.

Manifold.

Air intake.

ECU (the computer).

General Comments:

I've always wanted one of these cars and got mine for $2000. Had one oil change and a rotted antifreeze line blew which caused the head gasket to blow.

The car has a very nice body. After weighing several options I'm keeping her at all costs.

These Integra's are one of a kind, they handle well and have punch. They can pass a car on a freeway in no time flat. And the comfort is substantial for a small car.

Replacing the engine is just over $2k installed. Much cheaper than buying a new car. A Japanese engine replacement is common and adds more lots more horsepower. After-market bolt on options are also plentiful to add even more horsepower. These cars have turned into the latest fad.

I basically have a new car. It has one small piece of rust under the hatch. One small dent on the left front fenderwell.

Faults:

The alternator died and I was able to drive to the repair shop on the battery.

General Comments:

I love this car. It only cost me $2500 and it ran flawlessly for 78,000 miles which I did in one year. Then my girlfriend hit standing water on the freeway at 80MPH and hydroplaned my car, and us in four guard rails. We were unhurt, and the car was still running. Even after that it was mechanically fine, but the body damage totalled it. New York State law wouldn't let me drive it though so it became the spare car.

Faults:

Rear center brake light didn't work but was fixed - short circuit.

Alternator and timing belt replaced.

Usual stuff: regular oil changes every 3000, transmission flush every 30,000, tune up annually.

Black plastic seals under the rear windows started to look patchy, silver showing through - these were about $30 each to replace, and got the paint touched up too.

Seal on the rear trunk window showing wear - might be an easy fix.

This car isn't rusting because it's been kept in California. Rust really can be a terrible problem on this model - anywhere they put salt on the roads - so most of the US and Europe probably! Here in California it looks pretty immaculate for its age.

General Comments:

I still love the way this drives. It handles as well as anything I've ever driven, it's wonderfully sporty. I love the way it revs and it has enough speed to hold its own in traffic or on the freeway.

It's very light though, so doesn't feel as solid as some cars, but that does help fuel economy and general speed/handling. It has a very tight turning circle too which means it can park anywhere.

For a 13 year old car this is still going strong, and I'll be sad to see it go. It shows its age by taking a while to warm up when it's cold, showing wear on the seats and carpet, and the odd rattle here and there, but I am happy with the way it mixes Honda reliability with a touch of sportiness. Who says 1.6 engines can't fly?! My baby can still give many a modern hatchback a run for its money off a standing start!
