1995 Acura Integra Special Edition 1.8

Summary:

Terrific car for the money, but not too practical

Faults:

The car was absolutely flawless in the short time period I owned the car. Took a hefty beating from me, and was the learner car for my girlfriend to learn stick on. The only complaint about the car was premature leather seat wear.

General Comments:

I raced a stock 2001 Nissan Maxima with manual tranny and kept up -- pretty surprising, huh?

I have a 95 Acura Integra LS and it will bet a 2001 Nissan Maxima with no problem. Don't see your problem.

1995 Acura Integra GS-R 1.8L VTEC

Summary:

Premium version of the excellent Honda Civic

Faults:

Clutch failed at 57000 miles.

Rear hatch began to occasionally rattle at 60000 miles.

General Comments:

It handled very well although, typical of front wheel drive cars, it understeered when pushed hard.

Lack of low RPM torque and drivability was improved considerably by advancing the ignition timing by 4 degrees from the factory setting.

1995 Acura Integra LS

Summary:

Very reliable, hearty, cute, fun, dependable car!

Faults:

The front bumper is very low to the ground, so when I pulled away from the curb the plastic cover tore away, users fault. The paint job isn't the best of quality. It chips a lot and looks dull.

General Comments:

I have only done one of the recommended services to my car since I have owned it. My husband can do most of the service work himself which saves us money. I put 7,000 miles on my car about every 3 months so it could get very expensive if I listened to that annoying light every time it comes on.

1995 Acura Integra RS 1.8 4 cylinder. SOHC

Summary:

A cheap thrill that doesn't feel cheap.

Faults:

I had to replace the radiator at about 40,000 miles (1999), and then again at about 60,000 miles (2001). My auto mechanic said the radiator tank is part plastic and was not able to replace it with an all-metal one until 2001 because an all-metal one wasn't available for this model year until very recently.

Radio antenna recently stopped working (~60,000 miles). It's a power retractable antenna, and the motor still works but the nylon strip that winds the antenna up and down is worn out. I bought a new antenna mast ($40 for OEM part) and will install it myself any day now.

One headlight burned out at around 60,000 miles.

General Comments:

This car's reliability is extremely impressive. Maintenance costs have been absolutely average (oil changes, brake inspection, etc.) It doesn't have any minor quirks that I can recall; no odd sounds or vibrations.

I'm not the original owner of the car. I bought it used when it was about 3 years old. I think it was a lease return but I'm not certain. It was a certified used car, still under factory warranty.

I had a factory-original A/C unit installed by an Acura dealer (~$1,500), which works perfectly and I've had no problems with it.

Very solid car, lots of fun to drive, extraordinary trunk space for a sports coupe (the rear seats fold down, too, and the rear deck comes out in the hatchback model).

Back seat is very small but will accommodate 2 adults of average height. More comfy for kids.

Performance is predictable; no surprises in turns or braking. Ride is firm but very good for a small car.

The engine is actually a DOHC, not a SOHC. The integra line came with a b18b non-VTEC or b18c vtec engines, all being double overhead cam.

1995 Acura Integra RS 1.8 L 4 cylinder

Summary:

Cheap to run, great bang for your buck

Faults:

The calipers would get stuck and chew out the rotors.

General Comments:

If you're gonna buy an Integra, get the model with anti-lock brakes it'll get you out of hairy situations.

If you want superb handling, lowering the car a little makes it an excellent ride.

Adding sport suspension is even better.

Use the right rubber, I suggest Michelin 195 40 R16's.
