2011 Acura RDX 2.4 liter turbo

Best compact SUV for the money

Faults:

I had water in the headlights.

Rusted out heatshields.

Leather ripped in drivers seat.

Otherwise just maintenance.

General Comments:

The car is a Honda so it's very reliable. Has really good highway ride and handling balance. Power is peaky and comes on once underway. For an SUV the car handles very much like a car.

Love the navigation and OEM stereo system with the technology package.

I actually sold my Infiniti G37xS to get this car, and was very pleasantly surprised by the handling and power for a 4 cylinder.

Definitely recommend if you need AWD and an SUV, get the RDX.

2007 Acura RDX 2.3 turbo

Nothing has gone wrong with the car.

General Comments:

I had to get out from my BMW X5 due to repair costs; wanted to get something that doesn't break. Looked at and drove Toyotas and Hondas, and when I drove the RDX, I was in love.

This car does everything; best of all worlds. I live in Montana, and have snow and long road trips. I've owned Acuras in the past, and loved them. It's quick, quiet, tight, and sharp.

I just did a full tune up, since the car has 20k miles and I wanted to know where I stand. Kind of a pain with the spark plugs, since they are under the cooler, but got it done in an hour.

These must be rare, because I don't see them around.

Drives much better than my past BMW X5's and Audi A6 quattro.

Sound system is amazing, and it has a comfortable ride.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Recently tested out a 2007 Acura RDX at the local BMW dealer. The car had about 132,000 miles on it and was priced about 7499.00 before California taxes and fees... which add about another 10-12 percent to the price. They let me have it for 5 days to see if I liked it or not. The RDX of 2007 was based on the older Honda CRV/Civic platform. So it's smaller than the newer 2007 and up Honda CRV which had more room inside. The car was a lot of fun to drive. It was like a little SUV sports car. The turbo charged engine is a delight, but it does have some flaws to it.

PROS:

Great tight chassis with very little noises from squeaks or rattles.

Turbocharged engine 240HP 260lb torque engine is fun to drive.

Fit and finish on the car are 1st rate.

High performance tires.

Fun, small, quick little SUV for short trips, especially around town.

Leather interior was well put together.

Body and wheels held up very well for an 11 year old vehicle.

Great seats with plenty of controls for them.

Good riding position up higher than a regular car.

CONS:

Suspension is hard.

Wind noise.

Terrible nav with climate controls on the tech model... non tech model would be better.

Dark blue attracted a lot of dust after sitting out one night.

Engine would be a nightmare to work on; no room to work on anything in there... if a turbo went out or a starter/air conditioning compressor went out... you would be in big time trouble.

Speakers on this car need to be updated to better speakers.

Interior of the car is very tight... just not a lot of room in there.

If you are looking for a sporty fun 4 door SUV that drives like a sport car... then this is the vehicle. The car does have its flaws. This is a dealership car. And the price was 7499.00 plus fees... but I sense you can buy it from a private party for a lot less... maybe in the 5000-6000 dollar range. With the money saved you can upgrade the turbo to 300 HP unit... update the stereo and speakers and put top of the line tires on it.

I returned the car, not because I didn't like it, but there were noises coming from the turbo unit or accessories around it, and you couldn't get to it to see what it was. Also the dark blue just gets too dirty out here in the high deserts of California. The nav/air climate system was a mess. But I will miss that little sporty SUV with the nice turbocharged engine. What a fun little SUV, even with those flaws it had. I also tested a 2009 Lexus LS460 and a Honda 2011 Accord at the local Carmax dealership. Will write those reviews soon.
