2006 Acura TL Base 3.2L

Summary:

Excellent car with a perfect combination of sport and luxury

Faults:

Slight cracking of leather on center armrest. This was already evident prior to the purchase of the car.

General Comments:

The TL is a powerful, luxury sport car with good handling and a tight suspension. It's perfect for someone looking for something sportier and more luxurious than your standard 4-door sedan. It's not for someone looking for a smooth riding Cadillac or a strict track car, but rather something in between. As a daily driver it's an excellent car that combines sport and luxury perfectly.

The TL can get good mileage if driven conservatively, but has plenty of power to get up if you need to get out of a tight spot. I average 28 MPG per tank with the manual transmission and have gotten over 30 MPG many times, even with city driving, if I don't mash the accelerator.

2006 Acura TL V6 Manual with Navigation 3.2

Summary:

This car sucks in quality, but is fun to drive

Faults:

Clutch has been replaced at 13,000 miles (replaced under warranty, but with severe aggravation).

Driver's seat rocks (subject of TSB, but not replaced under warranty).

Difficulty shifting into third gear (TSB, but refused to repair under warranty).

Transmission (second gear) gone at 70,000 miles.

Battery connections corroded and needed replacement.

CV joints needed replacing at 50,000 miles (refused to cover under warranty).

General Comments:

This is a fun car to drive. There is nothing else positive to say about it. Reliability sucks. Honda's known transmission issues are replete. I have owned Hondas/Acuras for the last 15 years. This is the last piece of garbage I will tolerate. People used to rag on American car makers for being laissez faire about consumer complaints, but, after this travesty, and the Toyota issues, one cannot wonder but that the Japanese are worse that American car companies ever were. I never thought I would utter these words, but I will no longer buy Japanese until they reveal themselves worthy of my money (I have never bought anything other than Japanese cars since 1980).

All this "refused" to cover under warranty. Have you tried the small claims court?

2006 Acura TL Navi 3.2

Summary:

Fun to drive, fast, full of electronic gadgets car

Faults:

Nothing; Someone broke into the car to steal my radar detector, and I took it in to the dealership to replace the window; They did a good job, just forgot to re-attach the link to open the door from inside; Had to take it back to get that fixed.

General Comments:

Car is awesome; I also had an 05 TL, and besides Tire issues that were taken care of by Acura promptly, I had no problems with it; I sold my 05 TL for $28,000.00 a year later and 19kmiles on it; Traded it in for my current car (06 TL), and the dealership gave me $28,000 for it; \

I was expecting good quality going from an accord that had 366,000 miles on it with a replaced clutch and water pump; Accords are great cars as well;

Prevoius cars were two cavaliers, and they broke down at 47 and 55 k miles on them (head gasket and head), would never buy anything else, but Japanese car;

2006 Acura TL 270hp

Summary:

This is one of the sexiest cars around

Faults:

I am concerned about my tires. I have 17,000 miles, mostly highway, I think I need to replace them. Is this too soon?

General Comments:

I love my car. I would recommend the TL or any Acura. It is made well and handles well. I love the quickness and features. The tires are the only thing that I'm disappointed with.

I have sold Acura's for four years now. The tire you have is a low profile high performance all season tire. I am guessing you have the bridgestones. I would try to contact your Acura dealer, in some cases the manufacturer will help out and I would switch to the Michelin tire that comes on the navigation model or a continental from tire rack. You have to remember that this tire is designed to get you that grip and handling you enjoy so much. BMW's, Mercedes and Audi have similar tires and they need replaced at about the same time. It's not uncommon in the type of tire it is, but Acura is trying to take steps to make sure that you are happy. Just contact your local Acura service department and explain to them that you are extremely disappointed and they will do all they can to help.
