Summary:

The 07 Acura is one of Honda's best

Faults:

Occasionally the frame rattles when the engine is idling

Slow acceleration 0-60 km/hr... you have to really hit the gas.

Engine / powertrain control module corrosion recall.

No iPod / USB connection. CD player in 2007? Acura...

Pretty mediocre fuel economy for a small engine that takes premium.

General Comments:

In short, this car has been fantastic.

Engine / tranny still run like new. My mechanic always complements me on how good this car runs, though I haven't done anything special. This is the main thing I was worried about when buying.

Handling is excellent: the steering wheel is not too easy nor hard to steer... they got the weight distribution right, so the car can adjust to some pretty abrupt changes in direction.

The ride is smooth and comfortable: both suspension wise and seat-wise... very high quality materials.

Brakes are good. My front ones are still the originals. Note that I can't say this about the next generation of Acuras and Accords. The 09 models had some early brake wear down issues that really turned me away from Honda.

Acceleration after 100 km/hr is extremely good. On the highway this reduces so much tension in merging and passing.

Vehicle Stability Control (VSA): probably why I never want to sell this car, because it saved my life. When I was a new / stupid driver, I took a sharp highway exit going way above the recommended speed limit and temporarily lost control --> VSA kicked in and corrected the steering / direction automatically. This was during winter time in Toronto, Canada in late February of 2010. This car, I want to keep it until the frame rusts!

Summary:

Great car, I wish they did not restyle it, needs a more powerful engine

Faults:

Driver's side window squeaks and rattles when opening or closing. Need to get this fixed next maintenance visit.

Tire pressure monitor not very accurate, about 1-2 PSI above the actual tire pressure as measured by two different air gauges.

General Comments:

Good gas mileage on regular unleaded, can drive from DC to VA Beach on half a tank.

Very comfortable seats.

Power everything.

Enough room for 5 adults.

Dealer service is very good since they expect good feedback going back to Acura.

Wish there was a turbo version of this car.

Large enough trunk for luggage and golf clubs. Can carry snowboard with rear seats split down.

I intend to keep this car for 10+ years unless Honda comes up with another great small sedan.

LOL regular unleaded? You must be getting a nice engine knock; you do realize this is a high compression engine, right?

Yes... no sense spending extra $ for luxury & putting crap gas in... I bet if he tried 93 gas, he wouldn't need a "turbo".

Summary:

Overpriced Honda

Faults:

Sound proofing was not installed at the factory in the passenger door. This caused a hollow gong type of noise when the door was shut. Sound proofing was installed by the dealer and noise is gone.

The door panel was damaged by the dealer when they installed the missing sound proofing. Dealer replaced the door panel.

Driver side window regulator failed. Dealer replaced the regulator.

General Comments:

The TSX is pretty slow in accelerating.

City gas mileage is terrible for a 4 cylinder engine, maybe 20mpg if you are lucky.

Premium fuel recommended.

Dealership kisses your butt when in for service. It seems like they are very concerned about you giving them a good review of their service.

For the price of this car, I feel the fit and finish should be of a higher quality.

Honda 4 cylinder engines are much better suited to manual transmissions due to their "revvy" nature. Due to the amount of power automatics chew up they are best suited to larger 6 cylinders. The Manual transmission transforms this car, but the automatic gives a very average return.

As to the fit and finish, it's due mainly to feature creep I'm sure, in trying to compete they've added features you really don't need like EBD and Brake Assist, and to keep costs down they've had to cut corners somewhere. Judging by what's on the market at the moment, all car manufacturers seem to be going cheap on the interiors.
