2002 Audi A4 Quattro fully loaded 3.0

Faults:

A/C compressor 195000km.

Timing belt 200000km.

Flex pipes went bad at 210000km.

Burns a lot of oil for reasons I don't understand, although I use good oil.

Simply a lemon, had to get rid of it ASAP or else I'd go broke.

Hope this helps.

2002 Audi A4 Quattro 1.8 turbo

Summary:

Pretty car, but LOTS of problems. Not worth the $$

Faults:

Had to replace the manual transmission after owning it for 6 months.

Cracked drive shaft.

Numerous blown fuses.

Ignition coils.

Windshield wiper fluid compartment cracked.

Paint on buttons (A/C, door locks, radio etc.) wearing off.

Cigarette lighter will not go back down.

Electric window mechanism gone out twice... $500 a pop to fix.

Glove compartment wouldn't shut, had to have it replaced.

I can't even remember the rest... UGH!

General Comments:

It looks GREAT and drives GREAT when it is working properly.

Both of my Audi's have been nothing but a headache. I can't wait to go back to Japanese.

2002 Audi A4 3.0

Faults:

I've had ignition trouble since the beginning. Causes a misfire with the engine. Ignition coils were recalled, but did not fix the problem. Replaced a defective coil, still waiting to see how long this lasts.

General Comments:

Overall it's a great car, and it is a pleasure to drive in the snow. The car feels heavy, but when pushed it will run.

Back seat is a bit small and the coating used on the interior switches flakes off. I just saw a 2007 model the other day with the same problem.

Fuel economy is not the best.

2002 Audi A4 1.8 turbo

Summary:

Please don't buy this car. It will haunt you!

Faults:

Several transmission mounts broke, alternator went bad, tires wear out within 15K of being new, driver seat lumbar broke, interior paint chips horribly, ignition coil went bad, fuel injector stuck open, spraying fuel in my exhaust, leaks washer fluid from headlight washers, blinker switch went bad, alternator pulley stripped out, stereo went bad, blows blinker bulbs constantly, just replaced the clutch, and that's it... so far.

General Comments:

This car is a blast to drive and is very beautiful, however, when all it does is sit in the shop, it isn't worth very much.

When I bought the car at 52K, one of the transmission mounts was broken. I have since replaced two others that also broke.

This car also hydroplanes like no other, since it's so light and it sits on very wide 235 tires, it practically floats, so beware in the rain.

Speaking of rain, there is also a drain leak that leaks rain water into the headliner at the back right corner of the car. Our family mechanic, who does great work, and works on all my parents cars, now refuses to work on my Audi, because it's been there so many times, and is such a pain to work on.

2002 Audi A4 Quattro V6

Summary:

One of the best quality sports sedans for 2002

Faults:

Thought I'd chime in as I am one of those die hard Audi fans. When my car was covered by dealer warranty I received good service. Only issue I had in the first 50,000 miles was one of my front headlights went bad.

Afterward:

Driver side window malfunction at 55,000; repaired by the dealer.

Timing belt, and water pump and all belts replaced at 66,000.

Clutch and flywheel replaced at 69,000.

One ignition coil replaced at 45000 miles.

The key is to have an outstanding mechanic that really knows the car. I have one.

General Comments:

Outstanding driving vehicle.

Only way one should buy this car is with a six speed manual.

2002 Audi A4 Quattro 3.0

Summary:

Audi sucks!!!

Faults:

Need to use an original Audi catalytic converter, or your check engine light will not shut off!

General Comments:

The car has too many problems to list, and would never buy another Audi or Volkswagen again!

To the guys that have the check engine code that says the catalytic converter needs to be replaced; You must replace it with original Audi parts or the light will not shut off. My dealer said $1140 for the left side converter.
