2000 Audi TT Quattro 1.8 T

Summary:

Life is unpredictable - have fun driving- try an Audi

Faults:

Before I purchased this vehicle I knew it had some kind of issue because the computer (Electronic Control Module) was severly messed up and the dealer asked me if New York State had emissions testing? (I was buying this car out of state). I did not probe into why he asked this question. I took the car for a test drive and everything steering, brakes, and heated seats felt perfect. I bought the car and took it home to give it a second life at 107,000.

First few months of ownership- timing belt, water pump, belt replaced 107,700 miles.

Electronic Control Module was fixed to pass inspection. I was told someone put "NeuSpeed" in car and this caused the fault problems to the main computer.

General Comments:

I love my new car. It is roomy enough for one person. Two person maximum.

Heated seats are a must for anyone with lower back problems.

I drive this car daily and for my job out in the field. I have taken this car off-roading (for my job) unfortunately, with the low ground clearance of only four inches one is also going to bottom out, bruise/scrape the belly pan and cracking of the front bumper is going to be a sad end result.

But the car runs great. Low maintenance versus my last car. Don't let your repair shop sell you unnecessary services! oil changes every 5k. Car gets snow tires for the winter season and we can drive anywhere like having a sport utility vehicle except off roading is not recommended unless you have to for your job!

2000 Audi TT Coupe 180 hp 1.8 turbo

Summary:

An outstanding blend of performance and style

Faults:

Radiator cooling fan failed at 12,000 miles. Replaced at no charge by dealer.

Fuel gauge sender unit failed at 18,000 miles. Replaced at no charge by dealer.

General Comments:

In the wet or dry, the TT sticks to the road. Driving on a winding road is complete joy due to the responsive feel of the car. Steering response and feel are great.

With winter tires I can handle the New England winters better than any oversized SUV.

Having gotten use to driving the car, I wish I had the 225hp model. At time I find myself wishing for more power.

The cabin is surprisingly roomy. Very comfortable. Audi has done a great job of designing a beautiful interior that is extremely functional.

2000 Audi TT 225 Roadster Quattro 1.8 turbo

Summary:

A great car that I'll buy again

Faults:

The engine computer malfunctioned. Under hard acceleration the engine would drop down to almost idle. Dealer and I first thought the turbo was bad and that was replaced twice. Finally the dealer suspected the computer, replaced it and all is well.

I have had several electrical hiccups. Sometimes the interior lights don't shut off. Other times the electronic door locks don't work. Not sure what triggers this nor am I sure what makes it go away!

A few more rattles than I'd expect in a $40k car, but I've never owned a convertible before.

General Comments:

This is really a great car. Fast, excellent handling, good gas mileage. I drive it every day, even in the snow. The quattro system with winter tires enables it to go anywhere.

Outside visibility, especially when changing lanes on the highway, is limited when the roof is up.

Stereo, ergonomics, style, all combine to make this a wonderful car. My lease runs out this summer and I'll most likely lease a new one.

Had a chance to drive one in Germany. Less powerful than the one I own, but still cranked along at 150 MPH. Very nice!

With the roof down all is perfect in the world!
