1994 BMW 3 Series ic 1.8

Summary:

A good performance daily driver

Faults:

Left rear light assembly open circuit on purchase, (one set of wires power all lights) Able to easily remove, take back off unit and fix.

Engine hood stud unscrewed slightly- had to drill a hole through front radiator cowling to insert long screwdriver to open hood.

Front brake air ducts are in the way of front fog light easy release switch (to change bulb) -you have to remove front under tray to access the release switch.

General Comments:

Purchased as a low mileage west coast convertable example.

Handles excellent, minimal body flex for a convertble.

A little slow off the mark to 30 MPH. Mid range acceleration is good.

With the 5 speed, 43 MPG -unexpected for a performance car.

1994 BMW 3 Series is e36

Summary:

The ultimate driving machine..

Faults:

Thermostat broke at 97k.

Replaced water pump pro actively at 80k.

Other than that, just normal wear items.

Repair and maintenance have averaged $44/month.

General Comments:

This car is a pleasure to drive; steering, handling, engine are world class. The car is rock solid at highway speeds and overall, makes you a better driver. I would prefer to drive this 8 year old car than anything in the $15k price range, brand new or used.

1994 BMW 3 Series 325IS 2.5

Summary:

Safety and high acceleration, but nothing else

Faults:

Poor electronic system. Rain drops started going through the electronic box at 60,000 miles. While I was washing my car, water went through. Cost me US$1500 to fix it.

Once a month, the engine went out while I was driving a low velocity at 40,000 miles. I had to wait for 30 minutes, then I could jump up the engine. I have visited the BMW dealer in the states, but they couldn't it figure out. Unbelievable!

General Comments:

This car can protect you in any kind of danger. I had a serious accident on the freeway in 2000. I just walked out of my car. Good car.
