1998 BMW 3 Series TI 1.9

Summary:

A reliable BMW with a good price /look/quality/handling

Faults:

Differential started making a noise after few hundred kilometres and got replaced by the car dealer. Cost $2500.

Ball joints got replaced by the car dealer.

Traction control cable broke by the car dealer.

General Comments:

Great car. very good handling. Great traction in snow, thanks to traction control system, ASC. Big trunk space and due to being a hatchback with folding a sit I could almost fir a cow in there. Excellent build quality. Noisy on Highway. Poor thing desperately needs a 5th speed automatic. Never have used the A/M button on the console. Don't know why they make these or tip-tronic since no one uses them.

1998 BMW 3 Series 328i

Summary:

A high performance luxury vehicle

Faults:

I haven't been able to find any major mechanical flaws. The only thing I have noticed is the clock on the on board computer looks dim. I brought this to the attention of the dealer and they didn't know what the problem was, because everything was connected/plugged in appropriately.

General Comments:

BMW's are the greatest car in the world. I would reccomend them for any person, as they drive handle and feel great.

1998 BMW 3 Series i 3.2 gas

Summary:

Honda 'look alike' gets me no chicks!

Faults:

Rear windshield shattered for no apparent reason, car in garage - dealer of no help!

Cheap 'leatherette' interior is uncomfortable and wears badly.

General Comments:

Nice car, but would expect more for the price. The next model year, the car was completely redesigned leaving me with somewhat of an ugly duckling.

Very, very slow car. 6 cylinder performance is disappointing.

Tall drivers beware! You'll shut your head in the door!! gasp!

There is no such 3.2 engine.

The owner surely means his car is a 320i. For E36 performance, try a 328i.

There IS a 3.2L engine existing. It's the M Engine with 321HP. But I don't think this review was on a M3... because M3s blow your socks off! I'd like to have one...

I don't think this guy knows what hes talking about.

He must be in a 320. 328i's run very well for what they are.

I drive an M5, so I know what fast is, and the 328i ain't slow even by my standards. I had one until last month - great car, looks good, goes like stink and holds the road well.
