1999 BMW 3 Series 328 is

Summary:

A great sports car with style and power

Faults:

The (LCD) display screen for the outside temp, etc is going out. I've heard this is very common.

Other than that I've had no problems so far.

General Comments:

I bought the car 3 weeks ago and have already put over 1,000 miles on the car.

It is my first vehicle and I absolutely love it.

It has great pick up power, handles very well.

I have been getting good gas mileage. I average 28-35mpg on the highway.

The seats are very comfortable. I like the dual air climate.

I would recommend this car to anyone who wants a sports car with style, power & gets good gas mileage.

1999 BMW 3 Series i convertible 2.5L DOHC I6

Summary:

Drive this car to the beach and throw a couple of your girlfriends in the back seat for a nice ride

Faults:

Do not ever pull that tempting red cord that sticks out from under the back seat - it is a nightmare to get the convertible top working again.

Had an airbag warning light on, not sure what it was related to.

Had the codes scanned on the car at time of selling it and a million came up - all seemed minor though.

Sometimes the glass window on the drivers side door would jam, not allowing the door to be shut properly... each time would need some tough love to start functioning again.

The convertible top plastic rear window was all scratched up, and this seems like a common wear problem for these cars.

General Comments:

This car is not about taking corners and driving wild... it's about warm Summer day cruises with the top down.

Extremely comfortable ride... when I first got it, I was about to drive over this massive pot hole on this back road by my house, that I would always have to brace myself for because it killed my ass on previous cars... I braced myself with the BMW and to my surprise *I did not feel anything*, it was as if the suspension made the pot hole disappear.

Great highway cruiser, sometimes you don't realize how fast you're really going.

1999 BMW 3 Series 323i

Summary:

Great daily driver, very reliable and loads of fun to drive

Faults:

Transmission is sluggish although there is no slippage. 1st gear is just too slow to engage for a sports car.

Driver-side window has broken track. Window regulator OK, but will raise without some physical guidance.

Door locks have tendency to stop working. Seems to fix itself and just a nuisance.

Right corner light stopped working. Replaced bulb, but it's probably something more serious.

Headlight bulbs burn out every 6-8 months.

General Comments:

Really fun car to drive. Daily commuter and has never disappointed.

My list of problems are minor in my mind considering the delight I get from driving this car.

Corners exceptionally well. I would love a bit more low-end power, but you don't buy this car to race at every street corner. Just enjoy the experience.

I own a 1999 323is with a 5 speed, and I absolutely love it. When I bought it (Dec. 2004), I had a bad fog light too, mine was on the driver's side. My friend replaced the bulb, but nothing happened. However, I don't really have to worry about it anymore, because I was attacked by a large rubber cone and now have no fog lights at all ;)

Talking about lights, try XENON HID aftermarket like LUMENIA {$300}. They look great and you will SEE a big difference. They also last way longer than your current H7.

1999 BMW 3 Series 328is 2.8 Liter inline six cylinder

Faults:

Front right corner panel under the turn signal and rear trunk sill have rust perforation; No worries this kind of problems is covered under BMW rust warranty. The rust was fixed at no cost to me.

Rear calipers tend to get locked up and cause a scraping sound. BMW recommended to replace them, but instead I had both cleaned and lubricated... this solved the problem.

General Comments:

328is is one of the smoothest and most powerful engines I have every driven.

The amount of time and skill that has been put into building the machine is well worth the money I have paid for the car.

Among my friends we have 13 BMW's and they range from 318,320,325,328,M3,5-series,7-series all of them boast its power and quality.

1999 BMW 3 Series 328i 2.8 V6

Summary:

This is as far as I would go to experience the BMW driving experience

Faults:

After every winter I drove the car, the PDC (Parking Distance Control) sensors needed to be replaced, under warranty fortunately.

Unidentified jiggles from the back seat.

General Comments:

Great car overall. Unbelievably balanced especially in snow driving, given that the car is rear-wheel-drive.

For the money it's not a competitive product, and with its lack of power, definitely not the ultimate driving machine.
