1990 Buick Century Custom 3.3

Summary:

An excellent everyday car

Faults:

Replaced the battery at 82,000 miles.

Replaced the starter at 90,000 miles.

Replaced the brakes at 100,000 miles.

Replaced the battery at 123,000 miles.

General Comments:

This car is fantastic, I'm not really into a 4 door car, but I can't knock the performance of this bad boy.

I'm yet to bring it on the drag strip for a 1/4 mile ET, but as far as passing ability and all out acceleration, this car holds its own against any stock V6 out there.

General Comments:

This is a running machine.

I never thought I'd like a GM car, but this one was my brother in law's dad's car. I was between jobs and my Acura Legend's transmission was beginning to slip so this red 90 Century was a right car at the right time.

What a strong running car. it has the 3 speed transmission without the overdrive. It feels light and is amazingly agile for Detroit iron.

The list of things broken and fixed seems long, but mostly routine things really.

I, but some Lube Gard in (do not work for them) the transmission along with fresh oil at about 60,000 miles and I think that maintenance helped it go so long.

It is a still going car and I just bought a 93 with the 3.3 and overdrive transmission. It has had great care and has 53,000 miles on it so now I have two Buicks. Will sell the 90 but somehow I like it better and may miss it.

Air works great and the radio is excellent for a factory unit. An amazingly good car and congratulations to the designers and builders of the 90 Buick 3.3.!!

1990 Buick Century Custom 4-Tech

Summary:

An affordable, smooth riding car

Faults:

Nothing seriously wrong with car, considering its high mileage.

Replaced gas tank, radiator, oil pan the last year I owned it.

General Comments:

This was a very comfortable car, and great in the winter.

The car got a lot of use, daily.

Other than routine maintenance, and the normal things that need to be replaced after 12 years, I had no major complaints.

I never had a problem with the electric windows or electric locks. The air conditioner still worked after 12 years, with no maintenance on it.

If I hadn't found a great deal on a used-1999 Chevy Malibu, I'd probably still have the Century.

1990 Buick Century Limited 3.3L V6

Summary:

Mid-Performance like no other

Faults:

Mostly minor things, replaced spark plugs at 122,000 miles. Replace brakes do to wear, and various light bulbs.

General Comments:

This is a very well built car. I have had the car for two years and not one break down. The 3.3 is the best match for this car. I have raced many rice burners and have beat all, I even keep up with a buddies WS6 Trans Am.

The only down fall to this car is it will not turn at speed, because of the soft suspension. Keep this car in a strait line, and rice burners beware.

1990 Buick Century Custom V6

Faults:

Most recently there is a coolant leak in the internal manifold and the water pump leaks.

Because the car is so heavy, I have to replace the brakes at least every 3 years.

Other than that the car hauls a lot of gear and people.

The shocks are pretty worn out too.
