Faults:

I only replaced the passenger side tie rods, and a small 4 inch split in the vinyl bench seat became about 9 inches long when I sold the car.

General Comments:

This was a fantastic car to own! It was a 2 door, lime green color with off-white/parchment interior and a black dash. I bought this car for $750, after the 2nd owner replaced the camshaft, which was said to be blown due to running the car with very low oil levels.

It had chrome Keystone Klassic 15 inch wheels with Kelly Supercharger white lettered 60 series tires all the way around!

The car was very dependable, and started right up in those brutal Chicago sub-zero temperatures, without it being in a garage.

Even though it was only a 2 barrel carburetor, you did go through the gas pretty fast, but then again, I had a heavy foot, racing my buddies in their somewhat similar cars like mid-70's Grand Prixs, Cutlasses and Delta 88's.

Faults:

A component was missing in the carburetor when purchased. Had it installed and the car ran 100% better.

Has a bad oil ring. Burns 1 quart of oil per 1500 miles.

The transmission leaks way to much.

General Comments:

This car sat in storage for 8 years. All that it took to get it running again was a quick filing of the points and off it went.

It handles really good.

The seats and the positioning of the controls make driving this car a pleasant experience.

Faults:

Parking brake needed to be replaced before the car was inspected. It sat parked for a least a year, and passed NJ state inspection with no tune up or oil change. Just took it out on the highway and blew it out. It also needed a new exhaust from the exhaust manifold back, new shocks, new tires, radiator, as well a new Bendix spring in the starter.

General Comments:

The car was brown, with a raggedy white top. I liked how the dash controls were slanted toward the driver. It had a rear window defroster, that blew hot air on the back window, instead of having a heat element embedded in the window. Why don't they still do that? It worked great! The 350 engine always ran strong. The end came when the radiator went. Instead of buying a new one, I went to the junk yard and bought a "certified sealed" used one. Put it in myself, and was proud of the job I did. 10 minutes later I saw steam coming out of the tailpipe. Knew that wasn't good. Drove the car around in the summer of '87 with 10 gallons of water in the trunk. Used to refill the radiator after long trips. Used about a gallon of radiator sealer to keep the water from mixing with the oil. But the old lady had it after a long summer of hard driving.

Faults:

This car wouldn't die! It was big, heavy and loud, but the best running car ever. Other than regular oil and filter changes nothing went wrong. This car lasted to almost 200,000 miles, after we sold it to a family friend. No problems at all with the car.

General Comments:

This car was slow off the line, but as power started to build, it could hold its own. The inside was roomy,full of style, and comfort. I would recomend this car to anyone.

Faults:

Alternator would slowly drain the battery - replaced.

U-joint broke once.

Water pump.

Valve cover gaskets.

Oil pan gasket.

General Comments:

An awesome buy for $700 considering its age and size. I bought it when I was in a bind after my new S-10 was lost to my wife after she divorced me.

350 V8 keeps going, and going, and going. The average novice or shade-tree mechanic can even work on this car without having miles of sensors, wiring harnesses, computers and nonsense in the way. The spark plugs can even be changed easily, by one person, without turning yourself into a pretzel.

I had it repainted the original dark navy blue color. I don't drive it anymore in winter, to avoid rust. The interior is immaculate. This was a one-owner, maintained anally by a crabby old geezer who finally moved to the old folks home after his alzheimer's really kicked in. They say the average Buick owner is about 70, but I'm barely half that.

I do wish America still built cars this roomy, reliable and powerful, but maybe not quite so big on the outside.
