1982 Buick LeSabre Custom 5.0L V8

Summary:

A beautiful and excellent piece of classic American luxury

Faults:

Transmission was bad when I got the car.

Alternator 2 months after a transmission rebuild.

Battery was old, so I changed that when I replaced the alternator.

And the tires were getting old, so they got replaced too.

General Comments:

I love this car. I got this car in the summer of 2009 for 500 dollars, and it needed a few things, but overall was an excellent car.

It is the rare 2 door model, which I only see another one every now and then. It is a beautiful charcoal grey with a light grey half vinyl roof, and has a very nice light grey cloth interior. It is the custom model, so it's pretty basic, but I like basic.

I also have a 1982 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale 2 door that is burgundy with a white top, and has a red cloth interior. I have owned that since 2001, and bought this while I was restoring my Oldsmobile. Now that the Olds is restored, I will be restoring this car this summer. I plan on using this Buick as my main transportation while the Oldsmobile is my weekend cruiser.

All in all, I have to say I am impressed with the early 1980's and older GM cars. I love how they look, how they feel, and how they drive. And who doesn't love the Cadillac smooth ride offered in these old cars, even if they aren't a Caddy.

1982 Buick LeSabre Limited 5.0L V8

Summary:

An excellent cruiser, and a loveable piece of American history

Faults:

The car needed a new exhaust system when purchased.

The dash cover has a couple cracks in it.

The headliner is a little saggy.

The rear bumper is rusted above the tail pipe.

The bumper filler panels on the front and back are missing.

The windshield got cracked due to hail.

The car also has little dings here and there from idiots opening their doors too close.

General Comments:

I LOVE this car. I bought this in the summer of 2005, and instantly fell in love with it.

Of course, it is an older car so repairs are expected. I plan on fixing her up someday, and have already started on it a couple months ago.

The paint was faded when I purchased it, but once I cleaned it up and buffed it out, it shines like new. It is tan, which I think looks good on this car. This car does not have a vinyl top, but that does not matter to me.

The dark brown pillow top interior is in excellent condition, with the exception of the dash cover and headliner, which is common for any older vehicle.

This car has power windows, power locks, sport mirrors, rear defrost, working air conditioning, Buick rally wheels, and a power trunk release, and all of these come in handy, and the sport mirrors and rally wheels make this car stand out good. I get compliments all of the time.

I drive this car everywhere, and it has held up good for being driven in all kinds of weather. Here in St. Louis, we get some nasty winter weather, and I still drive this car in it, and it has held up great.

My car is a 2 door model, which is getting hard to find these days. I still see one every now and then, but the majority of them are 4 doors.

The car has the Oldsmobile 307 V8, which gets up good and is not too bad on gas.

All in all, this is a great cruiser and an excellent daily driver. I have loved this car since the day I bought it from the original owner. I bought this car from a man who is currently 91 years old, and he bought it brand new in 1982.

I love this car more and more every day, and I will never ever sell it or quit driving it. Long live the LeSabre.
