Faults:

The only thing that has went wrong with the car is the Keyless Entry system keeps acting up. I have had it to the dealer and they cannot find anything wrong with it, but it works when it wants to.

The door chime works when it wants to with the twilight sentinel, which drives me crazy.

General Comments:

Awesome car!!! This is my second Park Avenue, this one being an Ultra and I cannot see myself getting another car for a long time. I have had this car about 8 months and have managed to accumulate almost 20,000 miles. Other cars cannot compare to the ride and drive of this car as well as the interior options. This car is loaded and I am having a hard time trying to find a car with the reliability and comfort as this Ultra.

Faults:

Transmission rebuilt at 110,000 miles, when my cousin owned the car.

Battery cables had to be replaced at 140,000 miles.

Headliner was hanging down in the back. (My friend and I built a new one.)

Oxygen sensor was replaced at 184,000 miles.

General Comments:

This car is indestructible! It was purchased new by my cousin in the fall of 1988, and was passed to me in 2000 with close to 137,000 miles on the odometer. Given the high mileage, I expected the car to last about a year, while I saved money to buy something newer. I did not expect that I would be able to put another 75,000 miles (and still counting) on the car without any major problems!

The Park Avenue is the most comfortable car I have ever driven. It is quiet, smooth and spacious, and has features such as automatic climate control and leather trim.

Most important, though, is reliability, and on that topic I can't say enough. The 3800 engine has never needed any work, and continues to run like a top. I can't justify getting a new car because this one won't wear out!

Faults:

Headliner was hanging when I bought it.

1 burned out headlight bulb.

Battery just died this winter.

General Comments:

I needed a good, reliable used car of significant mass, and I drive a lot of miles every day. I needed also cheap because I wanted to pay cash.

I found this Buick with 134,000 miles behind the wheel at a dealer sale for them to get rid of trade ins. I put 13,000 miles on this car so far and never had had a single problem with it. (I don't consider a burned headlight bulb or old battery a problem!) It runs like a champ and has tons of electrical amenities and features.

All power everything, unbeatable comfort.

Great stereo sound.

Engine rock-solid, transmission shifts perfectly.

3.6 engine is OK, not neck-snapping but adequate power to pull the car.

The only time I was stranded was this recent winter when the battery died after a couple of cold nights with an interior light left on. I was home. Turned out the battery had been going bad anyway. I have a brand new battery in now and I wouldn't hesitate to drive the Buick across the US and back.

I highly recommend this car for anyone who is on a tight budget and needs affordable, safe, reliable, comfortable, and paid for. I love this thing and I'll never let it go even after I get a newer car a couple years from now.
