1981 Buick Regal Limited 350 V8

Summary:

It's so good, I can't sum it up in one sentence

Faults:

Rear Springs were shot causing the car to wobble badly when I got it. We replaced the front springs, front shocks, tires, and almost everything else before we realized it had to be the back springs.

In April of last year the motor went. Unsure why, but just died when going home from Saskatoon. I replaced the old 267 V8 with a 350 V8.

Front Right control arm needed replacing.

Exhaust needed replacing due to the fact the old exhaust didn't line up with the new headers from the new motor. Instead of the quite ones I had before I put Glass Bottles on.

General Comments:

This car is my first car I owned and has done me well.

Traveled fast with the 267 and now even faster with the 350, or so the speeding tickets say.

Interior is very comfortable, nice cushioned seats.

Lots of room for hauling stuff, which is good considering I cart a lot of stuff around fairly often.

Glass T-Roofs give my car a nice look to it and a nice ride during the summer.

Little bit of rust, but the performance makes up for what the looks lack.

1981 Buick Regal Modified 350 small block chevy

Summary:

Super classy, wicked fast, a pleasure to own

Faults:

The car has been an extremely reliable machine.

The car was originally a V-6, very reliable however replaced with a 350 small block Chevy motor and 3 speed automatic th350 transmission in the pursuit of performance.

The interior is all original and looks fantastic, only the headliner has been replaced and I will probably replace the carpet in the not to distant future.

Although the car is driven hard, it rides like a caddy, brakes great and corners well.

I wish the seats were adjustable, they move back and forth, but you cannot adjust the back portion of the seat.

General Comments:

Simply a pleasure to drive. Even though it has been rebuilt for all out performance, it is still as if I'm driving a caddy.

Steering response is quick and under steer is almost non existent. There is a little bit of body sway, however a stiffer sway bar would correct this.

1981 Buick Regal Ltd 267 V8

Summary:

A comfortable, classy, reliable ride!

Faults:

The water pump and radiator went, but I'm pretty sure this was the first time they had been replaced.

The floor on the drivers side rusted out.

When I first bought it, I had to replace the drivers side frame-rail, behind the rear wheel. Apparently this is a common problem. (Especially up here in Canada)

General Comments:

This car is amazing! It got me through high school! What else can I say?

Very reliable.

Easy to fix.

Very anemic V8, but that probably saves some money in traffic tickets!

I think any car that can make it to a muddy field party, win a rally race against a pick-up and then polish up nice for prom... is in my good books!!

1981 Buick Regal Limited 4.4L (267) with a 5.0L 4 bbl

Summary:

I got taken buying this car, I think this was the cause of Adam Sandler's ode to my car song

Faults:

The rear frame rails and the backing plates rusting out were a problem with these cars.

I had both problems as well as the wheel cylinders and brake lines.

Both gas lines were replaced and the gas tank always leaked.

The water pump was replaced twice and the radiator needed replacing when the car died.

The rocker panel trim was always falling off and the horn always cut out.

The timing chain was the reason the car is in the wrecking yard as I speak.

The floors were rusted out.

The instrument cluster was replaced and the windshield was cracked.

General Comments:

I would love another 1981 Buick Regal, but in better condition and one I don't have to do a lot of work on.

Body wise the car looked good, but always look for the rear frame rails going and always check for floors and rear backing plates rusting out on the GM G bodies.
