1994 Chevrolet Blazer 4.3

Summary:

I love my Blazer!

Faults:

Fuel pump went out about 150,000 miles.

Water pump went out around the same time.

Spider fuel line system was very expensive to fix, but worth it.

EKG valve was bad when I bought it; it was pretty cheap to fix.

All of these things are expected in a vehicle with so many miles on it.

General Comments:

I have had this vehicle for almost 4 years, and it has never left me stranded. I have 3 young children! Although there were troubles, it never completely went out on us. I thank Chevrolet for that.

I love the way it rides!

I do not like the air condition vents being only in the front. This made it hard to cool the vehicle off.

I bought it for $2400 4 years ago. I only had to put about $900 in it. That is not bad for such an old truck.

It could get better gas mileage!

1994 Chevrolet Blazer S10 Tahoe 4.3 Votec V6

Summary:

Excellent

Faults:

Well at 275,000 I had to have the transgression pan replaced because of a seal.

New battery (bad cell).

Turn signal bulb.

New stereo and gas tank.

General Comments:

Very tough and reliable truck to me.

I've seen lots of comments of horror stories about their 94 Blazers, and I truly feel blessed mine has 300K on it and I've had minor problems.

I've hauled a friends 12,000 pound boat with my Blazer, and she never missed a beat.

I absolutely love this truck, and fear the day I have to replace her.

The only major problem I for see is I think my exhaust manifold is leaking, because it sounds rough under the hood and you can see the exhaust, but hey for 300K I'm lucky that's it.

1994 Chevrolet Blazer Tahoe S10 4.3 Vortec

Summary:

Chevy junk

Faults:

Motor went @ 120,000, replaced with rebuilt motor that died with around 30,000.

Starter.

Left fender rotted horribly.

Rear window shocks.

Center consol cover broke off.

Power lock buttons broke so had to manually lock/unlock.

Driver door hinges sagged, replaced pins, lasted for 2 months, has to slam door to get to shut tight, would then automatically lock itself.

General Comments:

I knew the previous owner of this vehicle personally. He owned it for 4 years, passed away, and I bought it from the estate. The whole front suspension and steering components were shot so anything over 60 MPH was unsafe because the front end bobbed and made the truck feel like a roller coaster.

The origional motor was replaced with a factory rebuilt that died with an approx. 30,000 miles on it.

Bad starter location, have to drop exhaust to get starter out.

Rockers started to rot out, along with wheel wells due to runner boards and plastic trim. Driver side fender was worst, half of it was missing. Almost every rusty Blazer I've seen has this issue.

This truck had a lot of power, however, and trans lasted the whole time. Truck had HORRIBLE gas mileage, even with rebuilt engine. My fullsize Bronce with a straight 6 and mud tires got better gas mileage than this wreck.

I dislike GMs in general, I've never owned one that has been any good to me.

Well sounds like you've had a bad Blazer experience!

As far as maintenance, I've had fun changing the starter, and the fuel pump... piece of cake. I then found out it was my fuel relay so I just went ahead and changed it as well..

Sold the car at 196k because I got bored of it, but I'm looking forward to buying one soon! Very reliable truck a lot of power.

C'mon be realistic Cherokees, Pathfinders, FourRunners have as much problems aswell.

My 1994 S10 Tahoe was the most reliable vehicle I have ever had... never broke down...

Lost the TCCM, so I traded it for a 1993 Ford F-150 XL with the 300 i6... the most gutless gas guzzling piece of junk I ever owned... if I had known how bad Ford engines were, I would have never traded and gone out and spent 600 for a TCCM...

The Ford has 145 hp and 244 LBS of torque... The Blazer had 200 hp and 295 LBS of torque.. a little over stock, because the timing was retarded.. but if you want quality, you wanna buy Chevy or Dodge, NOT FORD.
