1996 Chevrolet Cavalier 2.2

Summary:

Extremely reliable and economical

Faults:

Replaced brakes 3 times (due to mileage)

On 2nd set of tires.

Struts/Bushings went recently.

General Comments:

The only mechanical issues I have had with this car are wear and tear items, things you would expect to replace when driving this many kilometers.

I highly recommend this car. I am planning on buying another Cavalier when this one eventually wears out, although it is still going strong and showing no signs of letting up.

1996 Chevrolet Cavalier 2.2

Summary:

Great Car Easy to Maintain Easy to Handle

Faults:

Soon after the car was bought the alternator went bad and just recently the ignition switch broke.

General Comments:

This is a very nice car if you take care of it well. It makes good gas miles with mid grade gas. Not only that, but you can find body kits and many other modifications to make it look sporty. Another great thing is that the car is simple. Meaning to change a part you don't have to take apart and/or rearrange what you're trying to reach. With a 75 shot of nitrous it will run 9's at the drag strip.

9 seconds in what? The 1/4 mile? Not happening.

Maybe with a re-entry booster from the shuttle it might hit 9's. Hell, my Focus might hit 9's if you ran it off a cliff.

1996 Chevrolet Cavalier 4-Door 2.2L

Summary:

A poorly made money pit

Faults:

Head gasket blew around 80,000 miles.

Transmission blew at 100,000 miles.

Air Conditioning broke at 98,000 miles, and was unable to get fixed.

Suspension became very loose by 90,000 miles.

Factory Speakers blew after I installed a new head unit, and originally sounded very bland.

Gas gage always displayed the wrong amount of gas in the tank.

Rear power window motors blew every time you put them all the way down.

Cruise control was unreliable.

Horn blew multiple times. Had to replace it with one with a lifetime warranty.

Rear seat fabric faded after two summers.

Trunk too small to fit stroller or any major luggage in. The trunk bar actually snapped when I tried to fit the stroller in the first time.

Key-less entry only worked when I was close enough to use the key to open the door.

Elastic straps on visors stretched when anything bigger than a letter was put in them.

Car is very hard to start in cold conditions.

Totaled the car in a 10 mph accident; completely unsafe. Car Crumbled like a can, and the air bags went off at only 10mph.

General Comments:

This car is quick, and somewhat economical.

With all the problems I have had, along with everyone else I know having the same problems, I wouldn't recommend this car to anyone.

Where is the horn located on the Cavalier and how difficult is it to change it.

Having difficulties trying to locate the horn relay for a 1996 Chevorlet Cavalier. Found the horn located above the splash guard by the passenger side wheel. Fuse OK, lighter works fine. Hopefully it is the relay. Anyone experience this before. Pls help.

1996 Chevrolet Cavalier 4-door

1996 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24 2.4 litre

Summary:

Great little package of muscle

Faults:

Well I have to replace the uv joints soon, then I have to replace the trans mount, but that's after 90000 miles so it is a very dependable car. It is really fast for a 4 banger, it will waste a 5.0. and mine can beat any other cavalier it will come up to. mine is stock with about 200 horses, but that's after I replaced the front end, cuz I crashed it, oops.

General Comments:

I love this car and I will beat any other cavalier so don't even pull up to me and try to race me cuz I will beat you.
