1980 Chevrolet Chevette 4-door hatchback 1.6 liter gasoline

Summary:

Amazing

Faults:

Gas gauge went out, "Smart Switch" with wipers/ high-beams/ turn-signals broke, and the usual wear and tear. Passenger door release inside broke, water leaked into front footwells from somewhere. Cracked exhaust manifold. Clutch. Other little hardware/ interior items that don't much matter for a commuter car.

General Comments:

As boring as Chevettes are, I have never had such a great car... these little cars are nearly impossible to kill.

I have had two identical 1980 blue four-doors, and they both just kept going... the engines are superb and easy to work on and use very little gas, and the cargo space is very surprising for such a tiny car... the things you can cram into a Chevette is remarkable... even more so with a roof-rack! Not the most comfortable car in the world, but it's not heinous, either. Very simple and to the point.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
