2012 Chevrolet Colorado WT X Cab 4x4 3.7

Summary:

Finally I am in love!

Faults:

A/C needed to be recharged and windshield replaced.

Broken handle for seat back replaced after I bought it. $7.00 with free shipping on eBay.

Synthetic oil change required, but higher miles between changes.

General Comments:

I have owned many trucks over the years from the smallest to extra cab duallys. I guess this is a midsize, but it doesn't feel too small or too bulky and that's a tight rope to walk.

Turning radius with it being 4 wheel drive and extra cab is very respectable. The 3.7 is the first 5 cylinder vehicle of any kind I have owned, but it feels plenty strong enough to pull a 2500 pound camper a few times a year and tow the occasional dead vehicle to somewhere. The 3.7 is rated at 241hp and is mated to the L460E which is also used on C and K1500's with the 4.3 six, and 4.8/5.3 V8s and does fine with them.

Shifts and drives like a dream. Handling is very positive and controlled.

It feels more like a car when cornering and is spoiling me for how nice a truck can drive. My other car is a Prius, so I like tight feeling vehicles. Gas mileage is even a little better than I expected. My driving has pretty much all been a good mix of city and highway so far and I have been right at 19.8 or 9. I am sure it will do 22 on the highway and drop to 15 or 16 when towing. Still a vast improvement over my last Ford and Chevy which were dropping to 10 and 11 respectively when towing. My WT does not have power anything and I think I like it! Tired of window motors and switches and nonsense I did not really need in the first place. It doesn't even have a cabin filter! I was very happy about that.

After 40 years and about a 100 trucks, I think I have finally found one I am going to keep.

There were problems with the early 3.7 head gaskets. I am sorry I don't know the exact year they fixed it, but it was fixed by 2012. No issues whatsoever.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
