1989 Chevrolet Corsica LT 2.8

Summary:

It runs too hot

Faults:

AC compressor clutch blew. Had to get a new compressor. They made it so I can't just bypass the pulley belt; lame... $150.

Fuel pump died; $300.

General Comments:

It was cheap for its performance.

But why does it run so hot?

Is it just me, or are these things suppose to run at the 75% temperature mark?

1989 Chevrolet Corsica 2.8 Multi port V6

Summary:

This car is a very dependable car

Faults:

Belt Tensioner went bad.

CPU chip went bad.

4 exhausts.

Drivers outside door handle doesn't work.

Stock Stereo shorted out in 2001.

General Comments:

I have thoroughly enjoyed driving my Corsica for the last 6 years.

It has been a very good car.

With repairs and buying cost it has been a steal.

Wish I could buy a brand new 89 corsica right off the showroom floor, albeit with a few more options.

1989 Chevrolet Corsica 4 door sedan 4 cylinder

Summary:

One of the biggest pieces of crap I've ever seen!!

Faults:

*Leaking head gasket.

*Ignition went, was unable to turn off the car. Had to disconnect the battery just to shut it off.

*Entire exhaust/muffler system fell off.

*Alternator went.

*Shocks.

*Brakes.

*Battery.

*Driver door-lock barely works.

*Fuel blockages.

General Comments:

I've owned this car for little over 8 months and every month it seems my car is "out of service" for at least a week.

I do not drive it hard, nor did the previous owner. He was an older man who was unable to drive anymore. And I've had nothing, but problems with it.

Lucky enough I only paid 500$ Can for it. I wouldn't have paid more! I've put more into repairs than anything into this car.

I wouldn't recommend anyone to get a Corsica, unless you pay 100$ for it. Truly a hunk of junk, more headache than enjoyment.

You paid $500 for a 16 year old car with 225000 kilometers on it and are *****ing that things are wrong with it? Grow up! What did you expect? A Ferrari trapped in a sedan body with the wrong badging put on it? It's people like you that give car companies bad names! Next time try buying a car that's not older than you and ready to be put out to pasture, then maybe you won't cry like a baby!

1989 Chevrolet Corsica 2.0L 4 cylinder

Summary:

Reliable, but very underpowered

Faults:

The exhaust sprung a leak at 115,000. I replaced section for $40.

Wheel bearings went out in both front wheels which cost $200.

The seats are not comfortable.

The stereo is horrible. I can now only listen to AM as the unit refuses to switch to FM.

It rides well, but the suspension is very squishy - it has a lot of body roll.

This is the doggiest car I have EVER driven. I can hardly believe that even this little 2.0L doesn't have more get up. This is probably my biggest gripe about the car. If you are going to be driving in a big city, the 4Cyl will make driving tougher. The Dodge Omni I owned had more spunk than this car. It revs to the ski, but goes nowhere.

General Comments:

This car gets good gas mileage at roughly 30 MPG.

It has been cheap to maintain - but is VERY, VERY underpowered.

This car will get you from point A to point B. I would never buy a car with a 2.0L from Chevy again.

Sounds like your transmission is slipping (will rev, but take off slowly) I would bet that is the reason for slow take off.

I have talked to a friend of mine who's parents own this car and they have had the same underpowered feel to it. They bought it with 20,000 miles on it and have said that it has always felt doggy.

The Corsica is not a light car, and the 4 cylinder engine Chevy used in those cars was regarded as weak.
